((OOC: This is a bit of a soft start to shore leave. If you've got anything in your mission scenes you want to wrap up, please feel free to do so. For those ready to start shore leave...welcome to Risa. IC there was a two week time skip and if you want to sim (working scenes) that took place during that, feel free.))

((Maklau Resort Hotel, Risa))

The resort was familiar, but the suite wasn't. It was a massive upgrade from her last stay at Maklau. Starfleet had a habit of sending crews to unwind, after difficult situations, to the same place. At least this time, the ship was still there. She looked out the windowed doorway to the balcony, wondering if anyone ever found that saucer and teacup she'd thrown out the window of the room from her previous stay.

It had been too long, but the day was finally here. She sat down in the rather large and comfortable chair in the living area of the suite and picked up her PADD.

Acting Captain's Log

This will be my final entry as Acting Captain of the USS Chin'toka. The mission to Miralon III has me feeling mixed feelings. From the outside, it looks like we lost. We didn't beat the Romulans. But I'm not sure we ever could. But there were small success.

Over the last two weeks, the combined efforts of our medical and science teams, helped by information gained from Lieutenant Neshala's undercover operation, were able to find a cure. Hopefully, if this happens again, it can be used to synthesize  treatments.

Starfleet has had those of us infected confined to Maklau Resort on Risa. And now, between the cure and time, we are no longer under quarantine. We can be reunited with our crew...and families.

End log.

That last part had been weighing heavy on her mind. Two weeks away from Mel and Esme felt longer. The two had been safe and uninfected, thankfully. She put down her PADD and stood up. Adjusting the sun dress she'd replicated, she felt awkward. Dresses weren't her thing, and it's not like Esme would know, but she felt the need to dress somewhat nice when they were reunited.

Just in time, the chime to her room rang out. She made her way to the door and opened it...

Sherlock: What are you doing here?

Shevon: You asked me to come!

...it was just her sister, who came barging in the room past her. Shevon stopped and looked Aine up and down.

Shevon: What are you wearing?

Sherlock: It's a ::beat:: dress.

Shevon: Bet your underwear is still Starfleet issue.

Aine was about to tell Shevon to shut up when she heard Mel behind her, coming through the door.

Martinson: Hey, you two!

Sherlock: ::turning to look:: Hey! ::looking at Esme:: Hey ::beat:: you.

She reached out for Esme, the baby looked confused. But then again, she always kind of looked that way. She held Esme close to her chest, tilting her head down and resting her cheek on her head.

Shevon: Okay, that's enough, give her to me.

Sherlock: ::looking up at Shevon:: Can I have just one damn minute, please?

Shevon: I want to meet my niece.

Aine looked at Mel who nodded his head towards Shevon. She knew that he knew, more than anything, she was just doing this to annoy Shevon...and Shevon was doing what she did best, annoy Aine. She handed the baby off to her sister.

Shevon: ::holding the baby up in front of her:: Oh, you're so cute! You look just like your dad! Thankfully! ::looking at Aine:: Are you sure she's yours?

Aine darted looks back and forth between Mel and Shevon. He'd made the same joke when she told him she was pregnant.

Sherlock: Are you two in league or something!?

Shevon giggled and walked off with Esme to the living area leaving Aine and Mel alone by the door.

Martinson: Are you feeling ::beat:: alright?

Sherlock: Yeah, I'm fine. I had some mild symptoms for a few days, but I'm fine.

Martinson: And... ::pointing to the side of his head::

Sherlock: Yes, there too.

Martinson: Good. With your sister here, we're going to go out and unwind. That's an order.
