((USS Chin’toka, Deck 10, Science Complex))

Viala: Alright, well I am Viala, I specialize in nanomechanics, and I'm an antisocial.

Stapledon:  Well, I can certainly understand having difficulty in social situations.  This is science after all, and–

Talyra: Please dispense with the small talk and get straight to the point, Lieutenant.

Viala nodded in agreement with Talyra, she was glad there was an agreeable person here to make sure this meeting did not get delayed due to useless small talk.

Stapledon:  Okay.  Well what we need to do is decide how much of what's left in the science labs actually needs to be there.

Talyra: I do not believe I can think of anything else we can put away in Astrometrics and Stellar Cartography unless you mean to shut down that section entirely. Should we start taking things apart?

Viala: Perhaps we can store it in the operations department. I am sure they won’t mind.

Stapledon:  Well no, not quite that drastic.  We want to put it into storage for the rest of the ship to be able to use.

Talyra: Are the biologists being lazy again?

Viala grinned a bit as she glanced at Talyra, always open to a little ribbing of other people or departments.

Viala: Are we to separate the geologist from their rocks?

Talyra: I know what they do to those. I’m not touching them.

Viala: Ah, we need to jettison the geology lab then. That should free up space.

She turned back to Stapledon, unsure if they were already starting to get annoyed with the two or them, or was thinking they may be over their head.

Stapledon: Response

Talyra: Well, be more specific. Most of what is left is specialist equipment, research data, and whatever they were up to in Lab Three.

Viala: Why are we even reducing all our equipment. Has Starfleet come up with another idea on the levels of genius equal to a fleet formation mode that we need to make room for? Or perhaps the admirals believe we need more flashy lasers so people take us seriously? Room for more nacelles, I hear more nacelles make us go faster?

Her tone was rather monotone, and she would hope her chief would be able to pick up on the sarcasm.

Stapledon: Response

Talyra: Oh, was that it was? From what I smelled when I passed by it this morning, I thought someone burnt their fish while simultaneously trying to sacrifice some poor long dead animal.

Viala: I would not rule that out entirely, some people would go straight to animal sacrifices to fix their technical issues before trying to turn their devices on and off again.

For being so ‘advanced’ her experience had shown that when it comes to critical thinking with technology, there was a grave lack of common sense. Seems people take for granted that the technology will work, and have no idea what to do when they can’t rely upon the tools they grew a dependency on.

Stapledon/Talyra: Response

Viala: So all of this is in regards to the new upgrades to the ship?

Stapledon/Talyra: Response

Viala: I don’t understand why we can’t just get security officers to do this. Not like it requires brain power, and it would certainly be more helpful than guarding doors or strolling through hallways.

Stapledon/Talyra: Response
