((Operations Center, Deck 11, USS Chin’toka, Orbit of Risa))

Is’Kah stood with Grallator in the operations center, having a light conversation with T’Ama. Her tour had enlightened her regarding the Bolian Ensign who recently joined the ship. It seemed to her that he used humor and word salad as a defensive measure, at least that was her current theory.

Is’Kah: Regardless, the operations center has been a great addition to the Chin’toka’s abilities. Just with flight ops, its efficiency went up 13%—all thanks to Commander T’Ama’s vision for this place.

Grallator: ::nodding with theatrical reverence, hands clasped like a Bolian monk before a spreadsheet:: Thirteen percent? That’s not just efficiency—that’s a statistical love letter to operational excellence. I’ve seen entire departments sacrifice their coffee budget for a two percent gain. Thirteen is practically divine. ::beat, glancing around the Ops Center with exaggerated awe:: You can feel it in the air. The hum of synchronized systems. The gentle whisper of optimized telemetry. The faint scent of ambition and recycled air filters. This place doesn’t just run the ship—it seduces it into peak performance.

T’Ama: Now you’re just sucking up.

The petite officer internally winced; she knew how much T’Ama hated that. There wasn’t much she could say to improve the situation, but many ways she could make it worse. She made a choice to keep her mouth closed.

Grallator: ::offended in the way only a Bolian can be, which is to say, cheerfully:: That was cultural enrichment. And it improved morale by at least… well, the numbers were inconclusive, but the dancing was spectacular.

T’Ama: ::leaning sideways towards Is’Kah while keeping her eyes on Grallator:: Is he okay?

Is’Kah: I am not entirely sure.

Grallator: How long did it take to refit for the Operations Centre?

Is’Kah blinked. That was a short and sweet comment, something she wasn’t expecting.

T’Ama: Almost three weeks.

Is’Kah: It would have been two, but Engineering wouldn’t sign off on the electrical lines.

Grallator: I was under the distinct impression it would take considerably longer. This, as it turns out, was a miscalculation on my part — the sort of miscalculation that, in another galaxy, would have required a formal apology to the local Ministry of Time.

T’Ama: I’m going to have to require a formal apology for you two lingering in my office. Dismissed. ::beat:: That means get out.

The petite officer put her hand on the small of Grallator’s back, lightly encouraging him to follow her out the door.

Is’Kah: Thank you for your time, ma’am. It was enlightening.

Grallator: Response

The moment the doors to the office closed, Is’Kah turned to Grallator.

Is’Kah: Let’s walk and talk.

Grallator: Response

Leading the Ensign out of Ops, she directed them to the turbolifts.

Is’Kah: When you’re on duty, you might want to learn brevity. When the fecal matter hits the fan, having a lot of extra words could end up confusing your team and costing lives.

Grallator: Response

Is’Kah: I do understand how nervous you can be when meeting senior officers; thus, it’s simply a suggestion that might assist you in the future.

Grallator: Response
