to USS Chin'toka
(( Bridge, Deck 3 Primary Hull, USS Chin’toka ))

After her discussion with Captain Mei’konda, Serala stepped out onto the bridge and strode over to her chair tapping her combadge as she walked.

Serala: =/\= Serala to all hands, prepare to get underway. Commander Sherlock and all senior officers, report to the bridge. Serala out. =/\=

((OOC: Senior officers are all PCs regardless of rank.))

All: Responses

As the replies began to come in, she was already making preparations for departure.

Serala: Mister Callahan, I am transmitting a set of coordinates in the Beruna sector. Set course for those coordinates, maximum warp, and standby for my order.

Callahan: Aye, Captain. Coordinates received, entering course now.

Serala: Lieutenant Neshala, I am sending a coded distress signal to your station. It appears to be a Federation distress signal, but there are some anomalies. I would like you to begin working on it to identify the signal, if you can. Please loop in T’Ama when she arrives.

Neshala: Understood, Captain.

As the Orion set to work, Serala looked around the bridge. The rest of the bridge crew were junior officers currently present for the experience and to give the senior officers some much needed respite. That was soon about to change.

In fact, it was only a couple of minutes later that the turbolift doors opened and the first of the officers she had summoned stepped out.

Sherlock / T’Ama / Is’Kah / T’Khio’ri: Responses

Serala: Welcome everyone. I’ll save the briefing until the rest have arrived. Ensign T’Khio’ri, relieve Ensign Callahan please.

T’Khio’ri: Response

Callahan: :: to T’Khio’ri :: We have a set of coordinates provided by the Captain. At her orders, I have laid in course and speed and we’re standing by to execute.

T’Khio’ri: Response

Meanwhile, as the two helm officers conferred, Serala turned to her Chief Operations Officer.

Serala: Lieutenant T’Ama. Please work with Neshala and find out what you can about this distress signal.

T’Ama: Response

((OOC: Feel free to create a breakout scene for T’Ama and Neshala if you wish.))

Serala was about to turn to her First Officer and fill her in when the Science officers and Chief Engineer entered and proceeded to their stations.

Serala: Excellent. Lieutenant Stapledon and Ensign Shepherd, I am transmitting a series of scans that were taken by the USS Diligent. Please begin analyzing the storm on those scans and prepare a report for me.

Serala pressed a command on her chair to begin transmitting the scans to the Science stations.

((OOC: Feel free to create a breakout scene for Stapledon and Shepherd if you wish. It will be important to reference the JP between Mei’konda and Serala for context.))

Stapledon / Shepherd: Responses

As they began to work, Serala pulled up a series of scans on the main viewscreen and began to give the entire bridge a quick briefing.

Serala: These are some scans taken by the USS Diligent a few hours ago. The Diligent was on a highly time sensitive mission for Starfleet, so they were unable to alter course and render aid. But as you can see, it appears that there is a ship in distress. Original scans seemed to indicate a Federation starship, but the signal - while clearly Federation in origin - does not match any known signals currently in use. In fact, it appears they are of a much older ship class, one no longer in operation.

She paused before she continued to the next portion of the briefing.

Serala: Nearby, the Diligent detected some sort of space storm that we’ve never encountered before. Their scans were pretty vague, but Captain Delano did mention that they detected what appeared to be chroniton particles near the storm. There may be a connection, but our task is to find out. And to investigate this ship in distress and to render aid as we can.

Sherlock: Response

Serala: There wasn’t much more than that, Number One, but it’s extremely likely that they are connected. If this is a temporal anomaly, it could account for the strange signal from the ship. We won’t know more until we get closer.

Sherlock: Response

Serala turned to face the Andorian Engineer.

Serala: Lieutenant Xiron, I am going to be pushing the ship pretty hard on this one. We’re close, but it’s still going to take us some time to get there and if there is a ship in trouble, I want to get there as quickly as possible. You’ll need to work closely with T’Khio’ri to maximize our speed without risking a warp core breach or the ship tearing itself apart.

Xiron / T’Khio’ri: Response

Next, Serala turned to Is’Kah.

Serala: Lieutenant, I want long range scans at all times. We’ll be going near the Valcarian border and we have no idea what we’re really getting into here. This could actually be an elaborate ploy to draw us into a trap, so let’s be cautious.

Is’Kah: Response

Serala: Are there any questions?

Kel / Doucet / Edrei / Brodie: Responses

She mentally chided herself for forgetting them. Medical was an integral part of starships and their contribution was no less important. But the lack of an immediate medical emergency had caused her unintentional oversight.

Serala: Great question, Doctors. Since we don't know what we're dealing with, and this is a ship in distress, please begin preparing for medical traumas when we arrive. We'll know more once we get there and can better assess the situation.

Kel / Doucet / Edrei / Brodie: Responses

Any: Response

((OOC: Feel free to pose questions. I’m just skipping ahead a bit to after the Q&A session.))

((timeskip))

After addressing as many questions as she could, which wasn’t many since they now knew everything she knew, she sat in her seat and prepared to give the order.

Serala: Helm, hnahn! (Engage!)

T’Khio’ri: Response

The ship began moving forward and in mere seconds the starfield blurred and became a tunnel of light around the ship. She sat back in her chair and waited for their arrival, already beginning to formulate a plan for how to deal with the situation.

((OOC: Feel free to create as many breakout scenes as needed, but keep in mind that everyone is on the bridge, so you can confer with others if needed. We’re not going to stay in this scene long, but I do want to give people a chance to get some preliminary research/preparations done before we arrive at the ship and storm.))
