((OOC: I am backtracking a teensie bit to add some stuff that Serala would have said at the end of the briefing. I don't make a habit of back tags, and I ask that you don't either, but this seems too important for Serala to save for later.))

(( Conference Room, Deck 3 - Primary Hull, USS Chin’toka ))

Serala had just given them the run down on the situation and handed out assignment, saving the Counselor for last.

Serala: You, Counselor Brodie, have the hardest job of all. You are going to be my ship counselor, and your main job is to keep my aggressive instincts in check. Be my voice of reason.

Brodie: Understood Captain, we can speak after the briefing.

Serala gave the man a nod, then paused. It was clear that everyone was trying to process what they had just heard, but she had more she needed to tell them.

Sherlock: Alright, people. We need to get this ship up and running ASAP. ::looking to the Doctors:: You know what you need to do, grab anyone you think can help. Even if it's Crewman 2nd Class Nobody.

Serala nodded, then stood up just as the others thought the briefing was over.

oO No time like the present, and they deserve to know the truth Oo

Serala: There is one more thing before you go. The credentials I used to gain access to this ship were forged. Admiral Wolf did not authorize this operation. As I said, we don’t know who’s been compromised, but the Captains decided we needed this ship. The three of them and I will bear the brunt of the fall out from this, but you should know that continuing will also place you at risk. I won’t fault any of you if you decided this is too much for you to handle. If that is the case, I completely understand. Of course, I won’t be able to let you leave the ship until we’re underway. But after that, if you decide you don’t want any part of this, you only have to say so.

She eyed each of them.

Serala: I hope you all stay. The danger to the Federation has never been more real or more severe than it is right now. We need everyone we can get. One more thing, stay or go, do not breathe a word of this to the rest of the crew. Plausible deniability will save them if this all goes badly. I would have done the same for you, but I feel as my senior staff I owe it to be completely candid with you on this.

Sherlock / Kel: Responses

Brodie / Ilsam: Responses

McGillian: Response

T’Ama: Response

Xiron / Is’Kah: Responses

Doucet / Stapledon: Responses

With that, she nodded at them and gave an approving smile.

Serala: Thank you all. I know I am asking a lot from all of you. I can assure you I will do my best to insulate you from any repercussions. Let’s get this ship underway and save the Federation from this threat.

The officers began to pair off according to Sherlock’s pairings and Serala rose and began to head out of the conference room. There was much to do, and she was about to steal a starship.

oO Mother would be so proud. Oo
