Chythar was in the BC, still largely closed to the public. He was walking around the room, putting the Akira-BC logo on the tables. The last of the ship class minis had been finished and were each arranged on their shelves behind the bar, and he still hadn’t gotten around to installing the actual coffee maker yet. Perhaps that was a failing on his part, but he’d been busy making sure that there was at least some BC product he had available for the grand opening, whatever form that may take. As he finished with the last table, he heard the door open and looked up to find Serala making her way into the room.

Serala had heard that the work on the new coffee shop was nearing its completion. While she wasn’t a big fan of coffee - oh, she’d had some in the past and could tolerate it - she preferred her Romulan tea, aesohll as it was called. That or kali-fal, which had a really good zing to it. But she was still nursing, so that was out for now. Still, as the acting CO, she felt she should check on the progress. Plus, she really wanted to make sure that Doctor Skyfire knew to keep her favorite drink on hand and exactly how she liked it prepared. She just really regretted that there was one colony remaining that grew the leaves, especially since they didn’t quite have the same spicy, nutty flavor. It was close, but not quite the same. As she neared, the door opened and she stepped inside, and sure enough Doctor Skyfire was inside.

Serala: Ah, Doctor Skyfire. How goes the preparations?

Skyfire: Hello, commander. I was just putting the finishing touches on the lounge and preparing it for the grand shindig, whatever form that may take. What can I do for you?

Serala: Well, I came to see how things are progressing. We should be at the station tomorrow and I thought it might be nice if the Captain found this place finished.

Skyfire: Ah, that’s a tea of a different flavor then. Speaking of which, shall I get you something while we discuss specifics?

Serala: Aesohll, with a twist of lemon. If you have fresh leaves, that would be best. Otherwise, I have a good pattern in the replicators.

Chythar nodded and made his way behind the bar, preparing the requested drink and getting himself a mug of his uncle’s signature raktajino blend. After a couple minutes, he made his way back to the table and set the drinks down.

Serala took a seat as he made his way over to get the drinks. The place really had shaped up nicely and she was certain many of the crew would enjoy this place over time. She took the offered drink and took a sip. It was a bit heartier than she preferred, but still quite good.

Skyfire: I’m having a wee bit of trouble with the espresso maker, but otherwise I think it’s nearly ready. Were you planning a party?

Serala: Not particularly, no. But I just want him to have one less thing to worry about when he takes back over. Though… now that you mention it, a welcome back party couldn’t hurt. What do you think?

CD chuckled slightly as the thought occurred to him. It was so rare he had a chance to prank his old friends, let alone see the baffled expressions on their faces once he let the proverbial cat outta the bag. Even his surprise for Lael was worth it, despite the fact she caught the tail end of his conversation with the jeweler.

Skyfire: I think it’d be a great grand opening event, honestly.

Serala: Excellent, then. As I said, we should be at the station by tomorrow afternoon. I will leave the details up to you. I believe you should know him better than I which means you have a better understanding of what he would like.

For all his tricks, he was still flawed in the “knowing people” category. He had a good understanding of what he used to do on the Excalibur to encourage medical treatments, which was to leave pastries and snacks on a table in the entry way. He had some knowledge of parties, because Lael had dragged him to enough that he got a rough idea what to do for them. Though the question became: how much did he really know about his Caitian skipper? They’d become rather close since they started serving together on the Garuda, but he wasn’t really at the point where he could say he knew what the captain preferred.

Skyfire: I’m sure I can come up with something appropriately suited by tomorrow afternoon.

Serala: Very good. This aesohll, is pretty good by the way. You have a stock of it, or is this a replicated version?

He had a sip of his mug and nodded over toward her cup.

Skyfire: Grew it myself, so it’s as fresh as I could get it with hydroponics bays. Reconstituted from the travel containers I brought back from my uncle’s store last time I visited home.
