Azura smiled warmly at the woman, but there was a glimmer of wistfulness in her eyes. She was excited about her new direction, but she... missed being Chief Science Officer? She missed maybe even being First Officer? She had left those posts trying to figure out what was wrong, but maybe it wasn't those posts. Maybe it was her. Regardless, it was moot now.

Ada: It's a pivot, I know. As much as I love psychology and holography, I often felt out of my depth with most of the research happening under me. Much more practical stuff. You don't need to be on a starship to study holography.

Stapledon: No, definitely not.  And to be honest a lot of what is happening in this science department at least is individuals or small teams conducting research on either things the ship has encountered or experiments.

Ada:  Sure, not unlike the Conny. How do you keep it all together?

Stapledon:  Well I tend to be fairly hands off most of the time.  Of course when it's all hands on deck that's different though.

Azura nodded sagely. Her own leadership style was to trust her people, and be colleagues. Her position as a leader was administrative, not authoritative. She, like all the others, had a role to fulfill.

Ada: ::cracking a smile:: I only let people call me "Commander" or "ma'am" when we're under Yellow Alert or worse.

Stapledon:  There is one thing I've wanted to start doing myself actually...  Would you say anomaly analysis is interesting?  Like analysis of anomalous artifacts after an away mission?

Ada:  Absolutely. The thrill of discovery is unending, even if it's outside of my area of expertise. Why do you ask?

Stapledon: ?

Ada: Hm. Now I just think you're going to give me my first assignment.

Stapledon: ?

Ada: I'm not above any work, Kim. I'm here to be a part of the team.

Stapledon: ?
