Tan: I bet. Plenty of long term ripples in the Tyrellian sector, though. ::Nodding to Erin, the engineer from another universe entirely. If that wasn't ripples, nothing was.::

Ceciri remained quiet, listening to the conversation between the Gorkonites. It was pretty interesting, all things put together.

E. Reynolds / Marshall: Responses

Tan: I mean, the whole reason I'm here on the Gorkon is because Safine was. And the whole reason she was there... well, you know, I don't actually know—her memories are really fuzzy for me—but I'm pretty sure she went there because Alleran knew Skyfire from when he was alive, and well, you know. After she got hurt Skyfire ended up pulling her through when absolutely nobody thought it was possible that he could. Just a whole bunch of links in the chain going way back. ::He smiled.:: Talk about ripples.

Ariadust: Interesting..

E. Reynolds / Marshall: Responses

It was a question directed (in truth) mostly at Ariadust, but offered to all of them.

Tan: How did you all meet the stars-of-the-hour? Surely there's a good story or two there.

Ariadust: I met Skyfire onboard the Montreal. I briefly served with them on the Astraeus, although I was still on limited duty until recently. ::wryly:: Not much of interest, though, I was a very limited duty officer until my heart issues were finally over.

((Day of the Wedding))

(( Holosuite 1 - Deck 4 - USS Chin'toka ))

Ceciri had attended in a more traditional human dress - she was very distinctly not wearing her dress whites. It was a more sedate blue dress, the color of weddings for Cygnians. (Whites, by contrast, were the colors of funerals.)

Mei’konda: Chythar, under the eyes of God, do you take Lael to be your lawfully wedded Wife? Do you vow to offer unconditional love...to protect, honor, and serve her as long as you both shall live?

Chythar : I do.

Mei’konda: Lael, under the eyes of God, do you take Chythar to be your lawfully wedded Husband? Do you vow to offer unconditional love...to encourage and support him...to honor and serve him as long as you both shall live?

That.. though, was a little bizarre to Ceciri. She wondered about the vows. Cygnian vows very specifically left out serve, and often, the couple would decide between them who got what portion of the vow. It was an interesting bit here that the two vows only swapped 'protect and encourage', which would be given to the same spouse in a traditional Cygnian wedding.

Then again, as she understood it, most species didn't have the unique quirk Cygnian physiology had - a Cygnian female could give birth with either another Cygnian female or a Cygnian male. A Cygnian male, like most males of most species, could not give birth. Couple that with the lopsided birth rate - approximately 78% of all births were female, more if both partners were female - and vows pre Federation contact had to deal with the assumption of roles by personality.

Post Federation contact.. well, Ceciri's mother had gone out of her way to hide non traditional means, and her father had acquiesced until Ceciri could make her own choices as an adult. Likely, had her father not died, she would have taught Ceciri the other options. Maybe she should learn them?

Ceciri shook herself, and returned herself to the wedding. This was their moment, and they deserved her full attention.

Mei’konda: :: Offers Chythar Lael’s ring :: Chythar, as you place this ring on Lael’s finger, repeat after me. “I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.”

Rings as an object made sense. Cygnian couples would often exchange a torc - it was very easy to spot a married woman. Some couples didn't.

Chythar: I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.

Mei’konda: By the power vested in me by the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet, I happily pronounce Chythar and Lael to be Husband and Wife. You may kiss the bride.

Mei’konda: May the blessing of light be on you, light without and light within. May the blessed sunlight shine on you like a great peat fire, so that stranger and friend may come and warm himself at it. And may light shine out of the two eyes of you, like a candle set in the window of a house, bidding the wanderer come in out of the storm. And may the blessing of the rain be on you, may it beat upon your Spirit and wash it fair and clean, and leave there a shining pool where the blue of Heaven shines, and sometimes a star. And may the blessing of the earth be on you, soft under your feet as you pass along the roads, soft under you as you lie out on it, tired at the end of day; and may it rest easy over you when, at last, you lie out under it. May it rest so lightly over you that your soul may be out from under it quickly; up and off and on its way to God. And now may the Lord bless you, and bless you kindly.

Mei’konda: For the first time, I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Chythar Skyfire!

There was applause, and very joyous noise. Ceciri clapped with the rest of the crowd.

A. Rosek: ::loudly:: Everyone, we will have a brief cocktail hour before the reception. It will take place in the back garden and hors d’oeuvres, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, will be served. Thank you for coming and we look forward to seeing all of you at the reception.

A line was forming to greet the new partners and Ceciri joined the queue, towards the end, listening to the rest of them.

Nugra: Congratulations you too. May you both fight for duty and honor. Like I know you have done before.

Rosek/Skyfire: Response

Ariadust: Congratulations! I hope you enjoy many nights of stars in your future.

Ceciri looked around.. she didn't want to take up the time of - was that Captain Rahman? It was! Still, she seemed busy talking to the Al-Layan commander, and Ceciri was very loathe to interrupt people. Some people thought she sabotaged herself.

Those people were probably right. She drifted around a bit, then paused. Well, she could talk to the Gorkon crew, she supposed, or - wait.

Knight: Boss.

Nugra: How have you been? Chin'toka satisfactory placement?

McKnight: I make the most of my situation. What about you?

Nugra: Response

Ariadust: Captain, Lieutenant. It's good to see you two.. ::Ceciri seemed puzzled a moment:: I take it you got leave to attend?

Last she heard, Nugra had left Starfleet to return to the Hegemony Navy. It was a rush seeing them again.

McKnight/Nugra: Responses

Ceciri shrugged

Ariadust: I'm on Amity Outpost now, in the Delta Quadrant. It's.. nice seeing you two. I don't think I've seen anyone else from the Athena .. for a while now.

Nugra: Response

McKnight: I'm no longer in the Corps anymore as you can tell by my change of colors but I'm still flying.

Rosek: Response

McKnight: Oh, this is my lovely date, Lt JG Jelanna Zarax.

Zarax: A pleasure to meet you, Captain. It’s always nice to meet people from Amuro’s past. And he’s being modest. I am more than just his date.

Rosek / McKnight / Nugra: Responses

McKnight: Captain Nugra and I go way back to my first posting on the Doyle under Captain Faranfey. You'll never be more safe than with a Gorn watching your back.

Ceciri nodded at that. She was also being quiet, watching.
