Is’Kah: First, I would like to apologize for my poor word choices a few moments ago. What I said was dismissive and more than a little disrespectful. That was not my intention.

oO Anything else is just an excuse for rudeness. I’ve errored nearly every time I’ve spoken with her. I’ve been getting better about my choices, but I clearly have a long way to go. Oo

Seleya: It was more than just that.

Is’Kah: The reason why I wanted to speak with you was to find out what I can do for you to alleviate this, either by choosing someone else for any mission with crowds, or working with you to find a way to negate this issue in the field. No one should suffer from pain just because they are on duty.

Seleya: You can do nothing. I did not ask you for help, nor is this any of your business.

Is’Kah: I would prefer to avoid requesting that you use daily medications. How uncomfortable is the sound-dampening device?

Seleya’s anger rose; clearly, Is’Kah had chosen the wrong words. Again. Zha was more than a little confused, not understanding the other officer’s anger.

Seleya: That is entirely inappropriate, and again, none of your business. You have no authority when it comes to my personal health. It goes entirely against what Medical has said and Starfleet Policy.

The words personal health caused Is’Kah to raise an eyebrow. Zhen concerns had nothing to do with anyone’s health.

Is’Kah: Lieutenant, this has nothing to do with your personal health, but a security risk to away teams that I am trying to prevent.

Seleya: No, this conversation is stopping now. This is blatant discrimination and I am not going to be pulled off duty or treated differently because you think I need coddling.

Is’Kah: That is the farthest from the truth.

Seleya: I am going to leave to report this to the First Officer, and command staff can continue this conversation with you on why this is entirely inappropriate.

The room was empty save for Is’Kah before the hybrid could respond. The hybrid was confused as to the reaction. Zha saw a high-risk issue and attempted to close it, but Seleya didn’t take it that way. She had felt it was a personal attack when it wasn’t meant to be. Opening the zhen terminal, Is’Kah started looking for psychological texts that would help the hybrid understand where zhen mistake was made.

Is’Kah Doucet: You missed several variables in your approach to this.

Is’Kah Xiron: What would that be?

Is’Kah Doucet: Her point of view.

Is’Kah Xiron: Shouldn’t she care about the safety of the crew and herself?

Is’Kah Doucet: Think about it, Is’Kah. If the situation were reversed and Seleya asked you to wear earplugs at all times, would it be frustrating if you were not given a reason?

Is’Kah Xiron: Yes, but I would assume there was a logical reason behind it. I certainly wouldn’t yell at my superior over it.

Is’Kah Doucet: She’s not you, Is’Kah. You constantly leap ahead of others in your thought pattern, then forget to explain how you got to the end goal.

The hybrid pinched her nose, slowly exhaling.

Is’Kah Xiron: This is my fault because I jumped to the end, forgetting to build the story.

Is’Kah Doucet: Yes.

Is’Kah Xiron: Fantastic. Now what?

Is’Kah Doucet: We shall see what happens.

Is’Kah Xiron: That we will.

The hybrid rose, pulling zhen uniform top down before leaving the office. It wouldn’t be long before T’Ama called Is’Kah to resolve this issue.
