He had a sip of his mug and nodded over toward her cup.
Skyfire: Grew it myself, so it’s as fresh as I could get it with hydroponics bays. Reconstituted from the travel containers I brought back from my uncle’s store last time I visited home.
Serala nodded. It would explain the subtle difference in the taste. This particular strain would require a bit more sweetening for her, probably thanks to her human genes, but it would make a great tea.
Serala: Well, it’s very good. Not quite what I am used to, but a bit more sweetening and it would be perfect. Well done.
Skyfire: Thank you. I may need to experiment with the replicated version. Although, if you have any guides to growing the perfect strain, I’d be most interested.
Serala: Well, part of it is my human half. I am sure a full Romulan such as my mother would find it quite delicious. As for the perfect strain… That may not be possible. As far as I know, the only places remaining that grow aesohll are one Romulan colony, some place owned by Reinford Company, and now our hydroponics bay. And none of them have gotten it quite right. From what I understand, there was just something about Romulus that isn’t present in the other locations. Having never been there myself, I couldn’t quite say what that was.
Chythar nodded slightly. Though he was not usually the sort to gossip about other peoples’ travels, this one piece of information he’d gleaned from Dr. Alentonis would probably be relevant to the conversation at hand. At least, about the drinks.
Skyfire: From what I understand from Dr. Alentonis, he mentioned there was a Romulan colony in the Shoals as well on...I believe Ketar V that grows it also.
Serala: :: nodding :: Yes, that is probably the one I have heard about. I never really knew where it was at. But it’s good to know the location. Maybe I can have some imported if arrangements can be made.
The doctor nodded again and had another sip of his drink. Carter was probably the best choice to reach out to Captain Rahman about such arrangements, since the skipper was one of his professors.
Skyfire: I’m sure Captain Rahman would be happy to help negotiate a trade deal between the Romulans on Ketar V and the Federation. As I recall, she still operates the Veritas in that region of space.
Serala had, of course, heard of Captain Rahman, but she had never interacted with her. But perhaps that should change.
Serala: Do you have the Captain’s acquaintance, Doctor? If so, maybe you could arrange an introduction?
Skyfire: Aye, that I do. We’ve served together for a long time, but honestly I think Lieutenant Carter Greyson would be the best man for the introductions. She used to be one of the lad’s professors while he was studying engineering. Of course, Dr. A may be able to help as well since she invited him aboard for investigating a Romulan treasure fleet.
Serala: Very good, then. Perhaps I will set that up then. Thank you, Doctor. :: standing :: I will leave the arrangements to you. For the party, I mean.
Skyfire: Understood. Preference for work or pleasure?
Serala: Pleasure, Doctor. People come to places like this to relax and unwind. Let’s set that kind of tone right from the start, shall we?
He nodded slightly. He knew all too well how much he hated dress whites, but knew the formalities associated with award ceremonies in general usually required such, which typically made his Stew Surprise a lot harder to consume -- though if there were any holographic pixies that was generally harder.
Skyfire: Got it. Casual dress code.
Serala: Very good. And if it goes over well, I may talk to the Captain about using this place for our next awards ceremony.
Serala turned and headed out. The life of a CO was a busy one. And she still had a daughter to take care of, which was where she was headed to next.
Chythar nodded and finished his drink as she left. He had to fix the espresso maker before the fun started, prepare the food, and send out the invitations. Fortunately, he’d done at least one of these parties before so he had a good idea of what to put into the invite.
