Cocktails sounded wonderful, especially with S’Rorr and V’Nille along.
Shivara: I could go for a cocktail. Or a mocktail since I’m a bit of a lightweight when it comes to drinking.
V'Nille: Probably. Her restaurant is supposed to have a full bar but I don’t know if there’ll be a bartender there tonight. ::beat:: Unless she’s picked up the skills for it, which would be right up her alley. Come on, let’s find her and get out of the cold.
S’Rorr: Response
They walked a bit further, Shivara tucking her hands under her arms to try and keep warm.
Shivara: So, do either of you have big plans for shore leave? Aside from this, I mean?
V’Nille: Not particularly! This is actually the first time I’ve been to Earth, so I figured I’d play tourist.
S’Rorr: A few things. I want to go and visit the Academy again,...
oO Why? Oo
S’Rorr: …pick up some of my old things I left behind and maybe see how Cap.. er.. Commodore Mei'konda is getting on. Other than that, Commander Ada wants to go hiking in Pennsylvania, I thought I'd join her. Sounds like a lot of fun. Gonna freeze solid. What about you?
oO Oh, right. Oo
Shivara: I don’t really have any. I am just playing this one day at a time. Honestly, I spent all my time at Starfleet Medical Academy and never really got out. I don’t know much about Earth and what there is to do here.
V’Nille: Ah. I trained at the campus at Ferasa since it’s closer to my homeworld. Same, though, as far as not getting far out of the Academy. They liked to keep us busy and there was plenty to do close to the campus when I wasn’t studying.
S’Rorr: I did my primary school and pre-med on Ferasa, but not at the big schools; I had Vulcan tutors. And my mothers. My education was all private before I made it to San Fransisco.
They had gotten close enough by that point that they all spotted the white Caitian, C’Reem. C’Reem was just a bit taller that V’Nille, and had amber eyes, which Shivara found interesting. Although nothing was going on with S’Rorr, she still found herself inching closer to S’Rorr possessively and had to force herself to step away, all the while trying to act nonchalant.
V’Nille: Hello, sister! These are my crewmates and friends, S’Rorr and Shivara.
C’Reem: Hey, V’Nille. It’s nice to see you and I’m glad to meet you two, S’Rorr and Shivara. This is Molly Wallace, the chef I mentioned in my invitation.
C’Reem motioned toward the human next to her and Shivara nodded in greeting.
Wallace: Pleased to meetcha! C’Reem has told me a lot of stories about you, V’Nille. It sounds like you get along well!
V’Nille: I like to think we do! Let me know if you want the embarrassing stories. I’m happy to share!
V’Nille’s sister groaned and S’Rorr chuckled. Shivara’s tail swooshed in amusement, but otherwise she said nothing.
S’Rorr: Oooo, yeah spill that tea later! That sounds fun.
Wallace: Well, C’Reem and I would be terrible hostesses if we didn’t get you in from the cold as soon as possible. I have my van somewhere around here. I’ll bring it around.
V’Nille: How far is your place?
C’Reem: It is a thirty minute drive, more or less. Maybe less, depending on how fast Molly is feeling tonight.
S'Rorr: Not too fast, I hope.
Shivara: Drive? Why not take a transport?
Molly just answered with a wink and walked away.
V’Nille: So how did you two meet anyway? You never said.
oO Ooooooooo. Don’t I just feel stupid now. Glad I didn’t just get jealous about something stupid over someone I don’t even have a right to be jealous about. Oo
C’Reem: It was actually through a message board on the ‘net. She is the one who offered me a place to stay when I said I wanted to visit Earth. She was in the middle of cooking school at the time, so we ended up swapping recipes and hitting it off better than either of us anticipated.
An upheld hand was apparently meant to stop any comments or questions.
C’Reem: And before you ask, our relationship is strictly platonic. We’re housemates and business partners. The fusion cuisine was her idea, actually. Apparently, Cajun food is already a blend on its own historically so it just kind of came naturally.
oO Oh, so jealousy would be okay if I had anything to be jealous about. Just because two people live together it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a couple. Oo
V’Nille: Ah gotcha. We’re all really looking forward to tasting it.
S’Rorr: Yeah, absolutely! I haven't had any real Caitian food since I left Cait. It's been.. gosh, ten years. I'm really excited to see what kinds of twists Molly's got for us, mixing in some of that Cajun.
Shivara: I bet it tastes as delicious as it smells.
S'Rorr: It's our first time in New Orleans, C'Reem, what should we go and see while we're here?
C'Reem/V'nille: Responses
S'Rorr: You know what I'd really like to do? Ride on a Mississippi steamboat and play some card games. That sounds fun.
oO Card games. Not exactly my idea of fun. Well, it is, but not what I had in mind. I was thinking of a walk in the French Quarter, some live music, but… Oo
Shivara: I hear there is a Blues scene here. Not a big fan, but live music sounds fun.
V'Nille: Response
S'Rorr: Oh, is that Molly's van?
Shivara looked over and saw the vehicle approaching. She didn’t understand the appeal. After all, there were shuttles and transporters. Why take a ground vehicle when there were faster and safer options?
Shivara: How interesting. I bet it is a fun ride.
She had no idea. She was just trying to be polite.
C'Reem/V'Nille: Responses
The van came to a stop and Molly got out of the vehicle. Shivara looked it over in a combination of curiosity and confusion.
Molly: Response
C'Reem/V'Nille/S’Rorr: Responses
Shivara waited for everyone else to pile in, then slid in herself, trying to get a seat next to S’Rorr. She was still feeling possessive even if she had no right to be. There were just too many attractive females here for her liking.
Shivara: So, this Cajun flavor, what’s it like?
C'Reem/V'Nille/Molly/S’Rorr: Responses
Shivara wasn’t totally unaware of Terran spices, but she’d never had that combo before. Cayenne pepper was a staple of any cajun dish, as were garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. It made the dish quite spicy, but she liked spice. She also knew that many cajun chefs preferred to make their own blends, but there were common varieties that included oregano, thyme, salt, chili powder, white pepper, and/or celery salt. Most of those she’d never tasted, but it just seemed to her that it would make it even spicier. And she knew fish. Salmon and tuna were some of her favorite Terran fish, but she also liked cod quite a bit. What she couldn’t imagine was how it tasted with those spices on it.
Shivara: I am excited to try it.
