It wasn't the first time Aine had sat in the Captain's Ready Room of a ship that wasn't hers as that ship's Acting Captain. Commodore V'Airu had suddenly become ill once and left her in charge of the ship. That time it was a sudden shock and she wasn't prepared mentally. This time, it was a little more expected. That and she had experience on her side, she hoped.

Acting Captain's Log, stardage 240208.28. Captain Serala has been asked to accompany her mother for a short time leaving me to command the Chin'toka. I was hoping the Captain's time away would leave us on patrol with the Astraeus, but alas, Starfleet has orders for us. The planet of Miralon III has sent out requests for assistance to multiple places due to recent viral outbreak in some areas. And us being the closest Federation ship, it's our job to respond and advise. From the sounds of it, the Romulans have responded as well. Not entirely shocking given recent events in the region. Though Miralon III is a part of the Freeworlds, it feels like the Valcarians may be trying to make a move via the Romulans to establish some sort of foothold through good will...we'll see.
I've asked my Acting First Officer, T'Ama, to form a team to meet with a local doctor to find out more about this virus. Lieutenant V'Nille and her team will be working on protections for the ship to make sure this doesn't spread further. Thus far it seems transporter bio-filters can't seem to isolate the virus, so Miralon has restricted access to and from the planet as well.
We've also been given another mission, one that may be vital to future interactions in the Expanse. Lieutenant Neshala will be leading an unofficially sanctioned recon mission to find out just how involved, if at all, the Romulans are given what we found at Paldor II.
All this while I'll be meeting with a couple other people to hopefully keep the situation...diplomatic.
End Log.

Aine tapped the console on the desk and closed the LCARS interface then stood. She gave her uniform a quick tug to make sure it was straight and true. After giving herself a few seconds, and a few deep breaths, she made her way out of the Ready Room and to the Conference Room to consult with her team.
((Conference Room, Deck 3, USS Chin'toka))
When she entered, T'Khio'ri and Is'Kah were already present as requested. She made her way to the head of the table and sat herself down and prepared to inform the pair of what was about to happen.
Sherlock: Shortly, we'll be expecting a couple guests.
Is'Kah/T'Khio'ri: response
Sherlock: One of them is a government representative from the Freeworld of Miralon III. There's a situation there, a viral outbreak of some sort. And we're going to offer assistance. But, the Freeworlds are just that, free from the influence of the major powers in the Expanse. So we can't overstep. We need to make sure we're giving them what they ask for and not trying to impose our ideals on them, but we also can't break our own rules.
Is'Kah/T'Khio'ri: response
She thought for a moment, this was the part that was going to be tough.
Sherlock: And the other is ::beat:: a Romulan Commander who will be representing the Romulan Free State. ::long pause:: Who is also offering assistance.
Is'Kah/T'Khio'ri: response
