// Captain’s Log, Stardate 240209.25
The Chin’toka has returned to the Par’tha Expanse and has resumed its patrol along the border of the Valcarian Empire. Reports from Captain Madison St. Claire on the Yanktonai indicates that they’ve detected what may be testing on a warp engine. Although she does not believe they’ve actually launched test ships yet, the indication is that they may be on the verge of doing so. I’ve spoken with Command and decided to take the Chin’toka beyond the borders of Caraadian space to investigate the planet, identified as Ah’rak Four. Not much is known about the Ah’rakians, but the Yanktonai did detect three ancient vessels that appear Vulcan in origin that may have been on a course for that planet. Their scans indicate the vessels date back to the time of the Sundering and I am left wondering if this may be another branch of my ancestors. Ones who may not have ended up at ch’Rihan.
We should arrive at the planet in the next few minutes and I have already assigned several tasks to our crew. Commander Sherlock will be taking Lieutenants Wright and Stapledon, as well as Counselor S’Rorr, down to the surface. Command has agreed that it’s time for us to make First Contact, even though they haven’t actually launched a test ship. We’ve also detected a strange signal coming from the surface of the planet, and I will be tasking Lieutenant Commander T’Ama, Doctor Edrei, Lieutenant Is’Kah Xiron, and Engineer Koyama with investigating the signal.
End Log Entry.

Serala: Mister Callahan, take us out of warp and enter geo-synchronous orbit.
Callahan: Aye, Captain.
The Ensign entered a few commands and the ship dropped out of warp. As she looked at the screen, she noticed what appeared to be a vessel in orbit around the planet.
Serala: Commander V’Nille, what is that vessel?
V’Nille: Response
Serala sat back and crossed her right leg over her left.
Serala: Interesting. And you say it’s orbit is decaying?
V’Nille: Response
Serala turned to face her tactical officer.
Serala: Seleya, does it present a tactical threat to the ship?
Seleya: Response
Serala nodded, then considered for several seconds, almost a full minute.
Serala: V’Nille, take Chief Xiron and Mr. Grallator over there and check things out. Take Lieutenant Commander Ada as well. Let’s see what kind of vessel it is, and what we can do to stabilize its orbit.
V’Nille: Response
As V’Nille summoned her team and left the bridge, Serala turned to Counselor Brodie.
Serala: So, Counselor. First contact mission. What kinds of things should the away team be considering?
Brodie: Response
Serala: Very good. I’d like you to monitor Commander Sherlock’s team and provide input as needed. Sort of a liaison, if you will.
Brodie: Response
Serala: Seleya, monitor the situation on the derelict vessel and let me know if there are any concerns.
Seleya: Response

Serala: =/\= We are in orbit, Commander. Your team is clear to beam down. =/\=

Serala: =/\= Yes, Commander. You’re clear to transport as well. Good luck. =/\=
