As the crowd began to disperse and cliques formed to chat over refreshments, V’Nille navigated her way through the crowd to where the two captains waited. She saw that T’Ama had beaten her to the pair of them and was already speaking to Aleron. She waited just outside of (human) earshot for the two of them to finish their initial bit of conversation. T’Ama: Captain Aleron! Lieutenant Commander T’Ama, First Officer. Of the Chin’toka.
T’Ama raised her hand in a Vulcan salute.

T’Ama: I wish to inquire if I will be transferred to the Valkyrie too as her first officer.
Aleron: response
T’Ama: Then perhaps it would be logical if we met.

She politely gave T’Ama a moment to process Aleron’s answer, then quickly stepped up to make her presence more obvious.
V’Nille: Hello, Captain Aleron. I’m Lieutenant Commander V’Nille, the Chin’toka’s Strategic Operations Officer.
She glanced at Serala. There wasn’t a chance in hell she was going to let this chance go, even if the half-Romulan was soon to be distracted by someone V’Nille could sense was approaching.
V’Nille: And also a Caitian.

Ah, it seemed Seleya needed something from Captain Serala, which meant V’Nille wouldn’t get more than that initial reaction. Oh well.
V’Nille: It’s very good to meet you too. A wholesale transfer of crew like this is pretty rare without the previous ship being retired or destroyed. Combined with the new ship being an Achilles-class heavy cruiser and our new area of operations being the Solerian Sector, I take it that Starfleet is anticipating some combat.
She had read reports of the USS Achilles’s performance in the Dominion War when reading up on Starfleet victories. Whatever changes they made to the class after that wouldn’t have been able to fully take the bite out of a ship like that.

V’Nille: That is the goal, but the Par’tha Expanse has been everything short of calm and peaceful and, honestly, I don’t like how blind we are to what is going on in there. Hopefully, optimism will win out when we meet whoever’s there now.
