Edrei: Awesome. If you have the time to hit the gym one more time every week, you can. But no pressure, your plan already keeps you in pretty good shape.
Shivara: Understood. :: she paused then looked at her new supervisor :: Well, if that’s all then, doctor, when would you like me to start, and where?
Edrei: We can get to this in a minute, sorry. There's one last thing I need to clear with you. What's your diet like?
Of course it wasn’t. She should have known better, but then that’s why she was the intern and Lee was the CMO.
Shivara: Hmm. I’m not overly picky with my food. Generally, I like to stick to those foods I grew up with, but I’ve tried some other foods that I’ve been told are okay for me. I’m not overly fond of vegetables, though. Tends to cause :: beat :: issues.
Vegetables equalled plants in her mind, and Caitians were mainly omnivores, preferring mainly raw meat. And she definitely loved her meat quite rare. Fowl was the best. She’d tried duck once on Earth and her only regret was that she couldn’t catch it herself. But when she’d told the cook she wanted it practically raw, the woman had looked quite offended, but brought her a fresh, raw duck anyway.
She found herself absentmindedly licking her pointed fangs at the memory and quickly stopped, once again wrapping her tail in embarrassment.
Edrei: That makes sense. You're supposed to mainly eat animal products. ::pause:: If you haven't yet, you can try zucchini. They'll get you the fibers you need.
Shivara: I’ll keep that in mind. Oh, and I should mention that my eyesight has a tendency to be overly sensitive to bright lights which gets worse the more fatigued I get. Not enough to affect my performance, but it has a tendency to create headaches which I usually treat with a mild analgesic.
Edrei: That's rough. Would it help if we dimmed the lights a little in Sickbay? ::glancing at the lights:: they're awfully bright anyway.
Shivara: Oh, no! I don’t want to inconvenience anyone else. I’ve learned to adapt. It’s just a byproduct of my offshoot of Caitians. We came from a strain that lived in caves in the mountainous regions, so our darkvision was a bit more enhanced than others. But the drawback was a slight sensitivity to light.
Edrei: Tell me if it gets any worse and we'll figure something else out. Anything else?
Shivara: Nothing that I can think of.
Lee set the PADD down and leaned back in her chair.
Edrei: I think we're set, then. So tell me, where do you want to work?
Shivara sat there in stunned silence for several seconds, her tail even coming to a complete standstill and fluffing up from the shock.
Shivara: You mean I get to choose?
Edrei: ::shrugging:: No use of putting you to work in something you don't like. So if there's cases in particular you want to see or something you want to learn and it's possible, I'll assign you there.
Shivara: Well, I am happy with general medicine for now, but I would eventually like to deal with pediatrics. But there’s probably not a lot of call for that here. Yet.
Edrei: Response
Shivara: You think so?
She thought about it for a bit. Yes, there were children on board, so a pediatrician would probably be needed. But she needed to complete her internships first. And then she could think about pediatrics. But just maybe…
Shivara: Well, if the opportunity does come up, then I’d like to consider it. But until I complete my internship I think I would like to stay in general medicine if I can.,
Edrei: Response
