Captain Mei'konda Delano - An Awarding Evening!

Skyfire: I want to thank you all for coming, and feel like the luckiest man in the world. One of the benefits of being stationed in the reserve is that I have time to create an atmosphere that you can all feel free to modify and sometimes even get the drop on me with a surprise. This was beautifully executed, and I was in fact genuinely surprised. My thanks goes out to those of you who worked on this masterpiece. :: He indicated the hologram of the Shoals. :: If there is anything I can do to facilitate your future surprises, please let me know. I’ll be mingling until the party dies. Let’s party.
Mei’konda listened attentively while Skyfire addressed his gathered friends, family, and fellow officers. Smiling, he lifted his hands up to clap politely after the Human was finished speaking. In his opinion, a well spoken sentiment.
Pressing up against Evan’s flank for a moment just to enjoy the contact, Mei’konda settled back down onto his heels after that, tucked the box he’d brought under one arm, and quietly addressed his husband.
Mei’konda: I’ll just be a moment.

Mei began to walk across the Brew Continuum. His eyes drifted over toward where he spotted Chythar now mingling with Lephi, Snow, and Levinson, and decided to make a brief diversion on his way over to where Chythar had stood moments earlier.
Skyfire: What about you two? Set on the big day, or location yet?
Snow: We don’t have a date set in stone yet, but the location will be on Betazed at my home there.
Levinson: Betazed certainly sounds beautiful.
Lephi: Response
A wedding on Betazed. The only thing Mei’konda knew about Betazed weddings was that they took place nude, and that many Federation races were nervous about such things. Mei wasn’t. Even though he’d grown up on Terra Nova, a largely Human colony, Caitians as a whole often wore little when left to their own devices. As it turned out, when one had fur, clothing was extraneous.
Skyfire: Heh. I bet Noa here will be providing all the chocolate milk for it, if I’m not busy providing coffee.
And then, Levinson coughed, tea escaping her nose. Mei’konda cringed sympathetically.
Levinson: Hey!
She stared at Skyfire for a few moments, appearing both amused and unamused at the same time.

Mei’konda: I just wanted to thank you all personally for your performaance on our last mission. Lieutenant Lephi, you and your team saaved a massive ship with supplies essential to the health of thousands. Top notch work.

Mei’konda: Lieutenants Snow and Levinson, you were invaaluable in your contributions to the negotiiations on the surface. I believe that without you, it would haave been much more difficult to convince the Caraadians of the value of what we have to offer in your respectiive fields.

Mei’konda: And Chythar, your contributions to morale and your occasional assistance in Sickbay have been invaluable. I appreciiate what you do. That’s all I had to say for the moment. Please, enjoy yourselves.

With one more nod toward the four, Mei stepped away, and over toward the holographic fish tank. Easing the box down onto a table nearby, he leaned over in Serala’s direction for just long enough to murmur a few words to her.
Mei’konda: Could you help me out over here for a moment, Commander?

folded his hands behind his back and cleared his throat.

Mei’konda: Our recent mission was a complete success, even consiidering the complicaation we faced in regards to the damaged superfreighter. I believe that the goodwill we’ve garnered from saving it from sabotage will do us good. At least, among everyone but the saboteurs themselves.
He opened up the box, looked back out over the officers, then continued.
Mei’konda: We haave a lot to celebrate tonight, and so I thought I would see if I could add to the joy of the evening by awarding you commendaations for jobs well done. Commander Serala, if you’d join me up here, please.
Serala: Response
Mei’konda: First, the whole crew is beiing award a new service ribbon commissioned exclusively for our efforts in the last days, the Par’tha Expanse Colonization Ribbon. This was a particulaarly difficult mission as far as colonization is concerned, and Starfleet Command has agreed that you all deserve to be recognized in this way.
Mei carefully pinned the ribbon with its magnetic clasp to Serala’s clothing, nodded once at his first officer, and watched with his hands clasped behind his back as she made her way amongst the gathered officers to do the same for them.

Mei’konda: For your serviices on the planet during some occasionally very tense negotiations with the representatiives of the Caraadian Great Houses, all of you and myself have been awarded the Diplomacy Ribbon by Starfleet Command. Congratulations, all of you.
Mei’konda exchanged the ribbons with Serala, smiled slightly toward her as she attached the one awarded to him to his own jacket, then stepped down the line in order to do the same to Serala, and then the other four officers, one by one.

Mei handed the three small badges to Serala, so that she could pin them to the clothing of the three officers.

Mei’konda: Lieutenant Lephi, in addition… you have proven Commander Rosek’s choice in selectiing you to replace her as Chief Engineer to be an inspiired one. You’ve kept this ship running splendidly, as well as showing your engineering skills to be broad and useful even amidst unfamiliar technology. For these reasons, I am also awardiing you the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Innovation Ribbon for your efforts aboard the superfreighter. Congratulations, Lieutenant! Commander Serala, if you would?
Mei offered the Ferengi a smile, and a slight dip of his head before he turned his eyes back out over toward the gathered officers while Serala once again offered Lephi the badges she’d earned.

Mei’konda: You all faaced a very difficult situation aboard the Titan, and much more importaantly than the political capital your efforts may have earned us with some of the Caraadian Great Houses, you all saved many lives in workiing with the freighter’s crew to bring her damage under control and allowing to distribute her medical supplies and foodstuffs through the area afterwaard. For leadiing your teams in these efforts and working so effectiively with the Titan’s crew, I’m happy to award the three of you the Joint Meritorious Unit award.

You both put yourself in harm’s way in order to save the lives of others aboard that ship, in the finest traditions of Starfleet.
