(( Deck 3 Conference Room, USS Chin’toka ))

Serala entered promptly, seeing her senior staff already present and seated. She quickly made her way to her chair and sat down, getting straight to business.

Serala: There’s a lot to still be done, so I want to keep this brief. I need a status report from each of you. Commander Sherlock, you first, please.

Sherlock: We found a couple ::beat:: anomalies that wouldn't be typical of an assault on a starbase.

Serala nodded, following the debriefing points.

Serala: And your assessment is that there was sabotage before the attack?

Sherlock: It's very likely, Sir. The bioweapons seem pretty indicative. They had to be there before the assault.

T’Ama: We also discovered a Romulan in disguise as a Caraadian amongst the survivors.

That got a raised eyebrow from Serala.

oO More evidence of Romulan involvement. I am going to need to contact Fleet Captain Delano about this. Oo

Serala: What other indicators do you have?

Sherlock: The core meltdown. There was very little damage in that area.

Stapledon: From looking over the data I collected as we were fixing the reactor, the safeties were switched off remotely.

T’Khio’ri: Sir, if I may ask, did the Romulan infiltrator have access to the reactor?

T’Ama: We found her on the command and operations level and she claimed to be in engineering. So with that cover story, yes it would be logical that she could have had access to the reactor.

Serala nodded at each of them, then turned to Aine.

Serala: I’ll need a complete report on this as soon as possible, Commander. I have the leaders of the Caraadian government coming aboard and I’d like to pass along anything we’ve learned.

Aine gave Serala a nod which Serala returned.

Serala: Okay, next up, Medical team, report.

Stapledon: From what I could tell something was used to deliver a genetically modified species of fly larvae into the animal population on base.

Is’Kah: Just before we were recalled, radiation levels started increasing rapidly. We did not have time to discover the source, but the working theory is that the creatures use that energy to cause their rapid growth.

T’Khio’ri: What is your working theory based on?

Edrei: It’s worth noting that we also found the worms on our patients. Each of them had an infection, but at this stage, we cannot determine whether it is the cause or the consequence of the worms. ::she added, voice weak:: Unfortunately, we… also lost a survivor.

Shepherd: Response

Serala raised a hand to her forehead and began to rub it. Science was not her forte and this was one of the strangest things she’d heard. The loss of life was regrettable, but how did mutant maggots from Earth get all the way out to Paldor II?

Serala: Thank you. I’d like a team to head up research on this and find out why this happened. :: turning to T’Ama :: Lieutenant T’Ama, I’d like you to head this team, please. Take the doctor and Stapledon and Shepherd and find out what you can. I find it hard to believe this was just a coincidence.

T’Ama and Edrei gave her a nod and Serala began thinking about the next concern.

Shepherd: Response

Serala: Now, about these prisoners. Lieutenant McGillian, I want you to interrogate the prisoners. Find out what their intentions were beyond random acts of violence and destruction. And I especially want to know more about this Romulan. What faction is she with and what was her mission?

McGillian: Responses

They had already received confirmation of Romulan involvement, but the more information they could get from this Sheri the better.

Serala: Very good. And finally :: turning to the Xirons :: I need you two to start working with the local government on repairs. I’ll get clearance for your efforts, but let’s get the preliminary efforts underway. Commander Sherlock, I would like you to oversee these efforts. Take T’Khio’ri with you as well.

Is’Kah: Yes, ma’am.

Xiron: Aye, Captain.

T’Khio’ri: Yes, Commander.

Serala: Very good. High Prefect Arielle Rolus and a few others should be coming aboard soon, so I am going to be in talks with them. Contact me if you need to, but keep it limited to urgent needs only.  If there is nothing else, there you’re all dismissed.

As the others stood, Serala quickly made her way out of the conference room. She needed to prepare to meet the High Prefect, and there was a report to file with Mei’konda. Plus an interrogation she very much wanted to be a part of.
