((Starbase 1, Deck 53, Upper Mezzanine))
Korin had been enjoying the freedom and downtime of getting used to life on a ship, even though he was soon to move to an even newer one. This transition had given him some free time to enjoy himself—time to buy things and act like the little tourist he technically was. With a few random bags of trinkets and an overly colorful shirt draped over his uniform, he wandered around, taking in the sights.
After the busyness of the day, he followed his nose to a place to get some snacks and drinks. There, he carefully maneuvered his bags on his arms, trying to balance everything. With a sugary drink in one hand and some odd little round snacks in the other, he tried to nudge past people to find an open seat. When he accidentally bumped into someone already in a booth, he peeked over his full arms.
Seleya: Hello?
Dasal: Ah- sorry ma’am…sir? I’m trying to watch where I was going.
He then spotted a uniform and perked up at the familiarity. He didn’t know the person, but now he could! Even if they weren’t part of his new crew, he could make a friend. He set some bags down and offered his hand.
Seleya: Apologies, I am Lieutenant Junior Grade, Seleya of Khanda. Tac/sec officer on the Chin’toka, but soon to be Intel officer for the Valkyrie.
Dasal: Don’t be sorry, I’m sorry! Oh you are on the Chin’toka too? Me too! Oh ya-guess we are moving to the Valkyrie soon. Oh um- I am Ensign Korin Dasal. Med Doc, officer, the pleasure is mine.
Seleya: You may join me if you wish.
At the invitation he beamed happily and pushed his bags into the empty seat then half sat on them as he set himself up across from her.
Dasal: Thank you very much. Forgive my ignorance but do I call you by your full name? Or is Seleya okay? I don’t want to be rude. I’ve never met someone…
He stammered a bit, trying to think of the least rude way to ask what species they were.
Dasal: I’m an Angosian from Angosia III!
The best approach was to share his own information first. He took a sip of his drink as he looked her over, thinking she might be the first crewmember whose height matched his out of everyone he had seen. That made him smile a little, finding an odd thing to connect over. Seeing her tattoos on her arms, much like his own, made him light up even more.
Seleya: Response
Dasal: Oh I see. Thanks, again just want to get it right. Still getting used to meeting so many new people. Is security hard? You said you are changing to an Intel Officer. What’s that?
Seleya: Response
Dasal: Is this your first time moving ships? I’m still excited a whole new ship to get lost on before I even learn my way around the Chin’toka
He noticed he was rambling a bit so he decided to try the little odd round snacks. Putting one into his mouth to shut himself up. How many people had he scared off with his over enthusiasm? Oh, that was hot-time for a drink to wash that down.
