To say she was frustrated was an understatement. Not only had they arrived too late to save DS26 and Paldor II Lunar Base from the Valcarian attack, but the station had actually been destroyed. And then Sheri had been rescued by Romulans. The internal investigation was still ongoing, but it was clear the Romulans had effected their escape.
She was busy filling out her report for Fleet Captain Mei’konda when a knock on her door drew her attention. Not because there was someone at the door, but that they had knocked instead of using the door chime. The unusualness of it made her suddenly curious.
Serala: Enter.
The door opened and Sylvie Doucet stepped inside, her red hair a welcomed sight.
Doucet: Lieutenant junior grade Sylvie Doucet reporting back to duty, ma’am.
Serala: Doctor Doucet, welcome back. I hope everything went okay with your family emergency.
Doucet: Ah, yes. It’s all been resolved. ::beat:: Honestly, I needed a bit of time away anyway so it worked out well enough. I’m ready to get back to work.
Serala: I’m glad to hear that because there was something I have been wanting to discuss with you.
Doucet: Of course, Commander. What is it?
Serala: Well, after the events of Frontier Day we never really got a chance to talk about what happened. I was very impressed with how you handled yourself both on the Astraeus and here.
Doucet: Response
Serala: Well, prior to your sudden departure I had been considering offering you a permanent position on the ship. Of course, at the time I wasn’t sure of what was going to happen to me, but now that I have been exonerated and placed in command, I wanted to extend to you the position of Assistant Chief Medical Officer under Doctor Kel.
Doucet: Response
Serala smiled and nodded.
Serala: Of course, that will also come with a promotion. Congratulations, Lieutenant Doucet.
Serala turned around and opened a drawer in the wall desk behind her and pulled out a box from among several in the drawer. She turned and opened it, extending the pip to them.
Doucet: Response
Serala waited while they replaced the black pip with the solid one, then resumed what she’d been saying.
Serala: Of course, there were also several awards citations for you, so I am pleased to finally be able to let you know that you’ve been awarded the Legacy Ribbon, the UFP Medal of Freedom, the Intelligence Star, the Galactic War with the Borg Service Medal, the Changeling Campaign Ribbon, the Distinguished Service Ribbon, the Frontier Day Ribbon Tiers 1 and 2, the Silver Lifesaving Ribbon1, and the Prisoner of War Ribbon. Congratulations, and you have my personal gratitude for all that you did for both crews.
With each award named, Serala pulled out a box and displayed the corresponding ribbon, laying them neatly in a line in front of the doctor.
Doucet: Response
