Once the team had indicated readiness, she sent them in. It wasn’t long before half of the security team split off, looking for survivors in a different part of the ship than she was heading for. T’Ama had said the brig, and if the schematics Seleya had found were accurate, the brig should be just ahead about one hundred meters.

T’Vek: Targets just ahead, Captain. I am reading our people and some hostiles just ahead.

Serala peered around the corner and spotted the away team. They appeared to be alone, and she could just hear the tail end of their conversation.

Is'Kah: … the ship has a katra. It either came from one of the travelers, who saved it in the ship itself, or it developed over the centuries it would take to get here at sublight speeds. If you could meld with it, perhaps you can calm them down?

Edrei: Calm the ship? We're out of options anyway.

T’Ama: How?! :: banging an open palm on the wall:: What are you supposed to touch to mine meld with it cause this! ::bang!:: doesn’t! ::bang!:: work! ::bang!::

Koyama: Response

oO A katra? This ship has a soul? Great. Just great. Oo

Serala: :: whispering :: Distance to the hostiles?

T’Vek: Ten meters, just on the other side of our people and closing rapidly.

Serala: :: with dripping sarcasm :: Great.

She popped her head around just in time to see several of the Ah’Rakians come around a corner, their weapons drawn and ready to fire.

Serala: T’Ama! Down!

Not that she’d needed to give the warning, but she did. She aimed her phaser rifle at the lead terrorist and fired, stunning him into unconsciousness.

Koyama: Response

Brodie: Responses

Serala fired again, nearly getting hit for her troubles and missing her target to boot.

oO Get it together, Captain! You’re a better shot than that. Oo

Koyama: Response

Brodie: Response

Serala: I am Captain Serala of the Federation Starship Chin’toka! Lay down your weapons and surrender and we can talk about this.

The few remaining renegades quickly surrendered and the security forces took them into custody. Serala had confidence they would get the prisoners out and secured. She would turn them over to the local authorities when she had the chance. For now, there were more immediate concerns to attend to. Meanwhile, the doctors moved in and began to work on Doctor Edrei and Lieutenant Is’Kah.

Koyama: Response

Brodie: Response

Is’Kah: I’m fine, help Leenaya. She’s worse.

Doucet: Doctor Edrei is being attended. You have no room dismissing medical help in the shape you’re in. Broken fingers, a bullet in your shoulder, blood everywhere.

Edrei: Painkillers? Please?

As they worked, Serala saw her Second Officer making her way over.

T’Ama: Impeccable timing, Captain.

Serala: Just glad I got here in time, Commander. :: looking at Leenaya and Is’Kah :: They look pretty bad.

Brodie/Koyama: Responses

T’Ama: What the hell was that boom?

Serala: The Chin’toka. I’m not really sure what happened, but they decided to swoop down and snatch an object that was plummeting to the ground.

She was still annoyed by that. Someone was going to have questions to answer.

Brodie/Koyama: Response

Edrei: Um... What's your name again?

Sh’vhaatror: Dr. Ezalia Sh’vhaatror, good to see you again doctor.

Is’Kah: It’s only a flesh wound. Just save Leenaya; they broke her skull, and she must be taken care of before I do.

Doucet: Just shut up and let me do my job, you idiot.

Is’Kah: Evie? I’m safe in your hands.

Edrei: Uh? I broke my skull?

Sh’vhaatror: Don’t worry Doctor, I will make sure it’s handled. I just need you to stay conscious and relax. Now I am going to hold the back of your head and gently guide you to lay down. Just let yourself slowly fall and I will guide you.

Koyama: Response

Brodie / Doucet: Responses

Edrei: Shoulder's probably broken too.

Sh’vhaatror: Don’t worry, doctor, I will make sure you will be as good as new.

Serala watched the doctors work. Security had also finally removed the last of the prisoners and things were starting to calm down. She wasn’t going to be needed here much longer, but she was going to remain on-scene to stay in command until she was sure she wouldn’t be needed any longer.

Sh’vhaatror: Captain, I need to take Edrei back to the ship now. She needed -immediate- medical attention.

Brodie/Koyama: Responses

T’Ama: Beaming out doesn’t sound half bad right now.

Doucet: Looks like Edrei and Is’Kah got the worst of it. Is’Kah also needs immediate medical attention.

Serala: Acknowledged.

She tapped her badge to open a channel to the ship.

Serala: =/\= Serala to Chin’toka. We have wounded to beam up. Lock onto to Doctors Edrei, Sh’vhaatror, and Doucet, as well as Lieutenant Is’Kah Xiron and initiate immediate transport. =/\=

Callahan: =/\= You’re going to have to wait, Captain. I have to retrieve the team from the derelict. They seem to be about to jump off the damned ship. =/\=

Serala: Did I just hear what I think I heard?

T’Ama: Response

Brodie/Koyama: Responses

Sh’vhaatror: Alright, Edrei. We are going to return to the ship. I need you to stay absolutely still, alright?

Edrei: 'Kay.

The doctors pulled out their transporter tags and initiated their own transports, and Serala privately praised Dr. Sh’vhaatror for having the foresight.

T’Ama: Response

Serala: Well, I think my work is done here, so I should get back to the ship. You are free to stay and take charge, or return to the ship. You should probably get checked out by the doctors as well.

T’Ama: Response

Brodie / Koyama: Response

Serala: :: tapping her badge :: =/\= Serala to Ensign Callahan. We’re ready to beam up. I hope you managed to get the other team safely. Energize. =/\=

Serala watched as the blue-white glow surrounded them and the high pitch whine indicated they were in the transporter stream. Once she materialized, she strode out quickly for the bridge, determined to find out what the hell was going on up there.
