(( Mountains, South of the wreckage, Ah’rak IV ))

Serala closed the channel and looked at the other two, determination evident on her face.

Serala: Okay, we’re going in. I would have liked more time to recon, but we’re going with what we have. Seleya, load those plans into your tricorder. You’ll be in charge of the security teams. Counselor, you’ll be along, but your main job is to engage in discussions with the terrorists when we engage. I still don’t want to harm anyone.

The Romulan in her was screaming that she was a liar, but she wasn’t giving in to that side of her nature right now.

Brodie: Understood although if hostilities start it might be difficult to stop them. Heavy stuns…like you say we don't want to hurt anyone unless we have to.

Serala: I retain overall command. We go in through the opening in the valley wall, then proceed cautiously inside.

Seleya: Aye Captain. I will get the security team ready.

Brodie: ::Turning to Serala as he adjusted his kit:: Rebels with a cause…I’ve got a horrible feeling there’s a piece of a larger puzzle we’re not seeing here.

Serala: I am absolutely sure that is true, Counselor. But we can listen to their side once our people are safe.

They started back down to the staging area. Seleya moved off to brief the security teams and Serala checked her weapons.

Brodie: ::Turning to Serala as he adjusted his kit:: Rebels with a cause…I’ve got a horrible feeling there’s a piece of a larger puzzle we’re not seeing here.

Serala: Counselor, you’re as paranoid as a Romulan. I’m almost proud.

Brodie: Well, it might just be my general paranoia but it’s kept me alive this long.

Serala: Well let’s hope you’re wrong, Doctor.

Brodie: Like I’ve said before - nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be wrong.

Serala chuckled and a few minutes later, Seleya returned.

Seleya: Security is ready, Captain. But I would like to raise a concern that the Terrorist having a strong anti-warp stance and seeming to be against aliens, they may not want to negotiate with an alien from a warp capable species and that may put Doctor Brodie in danger.

Serala: Very good, Lieutenant.

A second later, her combadge chirped again.

T’Ama: =/\= T’Ama to Serala. There’s no more time. You guys need to get in here now. The brig escape was loud and three are injured. We have to move, but we aren’t moving fast. =/\=

Serala didn’t want to give away the plan over an open channel, so she settled for another non-response response. She also hoped T’Ama would understand the basic code she was about to send her.

Serala: =/\= Understood, Commander. We’ve got a plan. We’ll be sending a rescue party in about two days. They should arrive onsite about ten minutes after that. And don’t worry, I won’t be going with them. We don’t want a Romulan stirring the pot, now do we? Anyway, hang in there. It should be over soon. =/\=

T’Ama: =/\= Thanks. =/\=

Seleya: Sounds like we may not have time to negotiate. I am sorry doctor, but we need to extract our people.

Brodie: Agreed - hopefully it can remain on the table be we need to get them out of there. Based on what T’Ama told us we can’t have them recaptured.

Serala: We go in. Take them down with stun if they resist. We can talk to them once I know our people are secure. It’s the best I can do.

She was about to say more when she spotted a fiery streak racing through the sky, a meteor apparently on a crash trajectory for their location. A split second later, there was a series of sonic booms in rapid succession, and then a blinding blue-white light as the Chin’toka practically materialized overhead and snatched the object before racing back to the skies with yet another sonic boom.

The boom was so loud that Serala’s sensitive ears nearly burst and her knees buckled. She could see Seleya screaming in pain just before the dust and debris obscured her vision. She probably could have heard Seleya’s scream if she’d been able to hear anything besides a loud ringing sound in her ears.

When the dust finally settled, she could see Brodie trying to get her attention, but his words were silent.

(( OOC: Leaving in the dialogue, but Serala can’t hear it. She can’t read lips either, so she’s going to be taking her best guess on what’s being said until her hearing is restored. ))

Brodie: Captain?!

Serala covered her ears, green blood leaking between her fingers as she looked at him, trying to decipher his words.

Serala: :: shouting :: I CAN’T HEAR YOU! CHECK ON SELEYA!

Brodie: I’ll try and get to her! What the hell was that?!

Serala: WHAT? IS SHE OKAY? I NEED A MEDIC!

One of the members of the security team was already making his way over with a medkit and tricorder. He started to work on Serala, but she directed him to Seleya first.

Brodie: Response

Seleya: Response

A second security officer began to examine her and pulled out a magic wand, running it over her ears. Within a minute, her hearing was restored to her right side and the medic began working on her left.

Brodie: We need to get our people out of there…and we need to get back to the ship.

Serala: Agreed. And I need to have a conversation with whoever was responsible for that boneheaded maneuver.

Seleya: Response

Brodie: Well, that will have almost certainly disorientated them as much as it has us…we might have an opportunity to tag our team and get out of here.

Serala checked the chrono on the medic’s tricorder and turned back to Brodie and Seleya.

Serala: Agreed. We move now.

Thankfully, the medic chose that precise moment to finish treating her ears. Seleya was down for the count and arrangements were already being made to have her transported back to the ship. Just as she was being beamed aboard, several blue-shirted medical officers arrived, led by Sylvie Doucet and Ensign Sh’vhaatror, the Aenar who had recently come aboard. They began to fan out and treat the stunned security team.

Serala: Doctors. Welcome. Sorry to do this to you, but we’re a go. Right now. And it sounds like some of them might be hurt, most especially Doctor Edrei. So the two of you are coming with. Grab some weapons and let’s get going.

Doucet / Sh’vhaatror: Responses
