((Underground Caves, Eladar IV))

Once Katnar was comfortably settled the group began making their way to the surface. It was somewhat slow going, especially with their injured party. However, they made relatively good time. Not long after they reached the twilight, the crackle of the comm broke through and Toryn’s voice cut through the static.

Raga: =/\= Chin’toka to Commander Serala, do you copy? =/\=

Serala: =/\= Serala here, Commander. Go ahead. =/\=

Kiax: =/\= Receiving you five by five, Commander. =/\=

Raga: =/\= It’s good to hear your voice, Captain. We just entered orbit. The Vritad is in retreat. =/\=

She arched an eyebrow. Had that been the Caraadian ship? What had happened up there while they were out of contact? She had the feeling she was in for some very interesting reading when she was cleared by Sickbay. Rolling her shoulder, she winced at the jolt of pain. Normally, she would have ignored it and carried on with her duties. But she had the feeling Snow wouldn’t hear of it.

Snow: =/\= response =/\=

Raga: =/\= Understood, prepare to beamed directly to Sickbay. =/\=

Katnar and Snow dematerialized in a brilliant blue shimmering light, leaving the rest of the team to wrap things down here.

Levinson: Very well… ::To Serala:: What is our next step, Commander?

Serala: We go home, Lieutenant.

Rosek: oO Amen to that. Oo

Her quarters and her bed were looking more and more inviting by the minute. She hoped her family would understand her need for a couple of hours of sleep before she was even remotely ready to talk about what had happened.

Kiax: I couldn’t agree more. I’ll begin warming up the engines. General, Qalipu’fari – it’s been a pleasure.

She’d been so lost in her thoughts that she almost missed Serala speaking to her.

Serala: Commander Rosek, you are injured. If you wish, you can beam directly back to the ship as well.

Part of her wondered if it wasn’t an indirect order. Regardless, Lael wasn’t inclined to argue. For the first time, she was looking forward to having her injuries treated and doses of a neural inhibitor and a sedative administered so she could hopefully get some rest.

Rosek: Aye, ma’am.

Serala: If you two would like, you may ride up with us. :: to Qalipu :: It might do her good to have a familiar face there. And :: to the General :: Once she is better, you and she might be able to have a bit of a conversation about the future of your people.

Qalipu’fari/Zadok: Response

McKnight / Any: Response

Serala: Very good. Then let’s get going everyone.

Stepping away from the group, she positioned herself to look out over the world that had been a mere curiosity until the fighting had broken out. The promise of a scientific endeavor had been drowned out by the oppression the Mekra’fari felt at the hands of the Feladoni. Her expression shifted, realizing that it had all been inevitable. The events had been set into motion long before their arrival here.

She dropped to her knees, a hand over her heart, taking in the silence for a long moment. A wane smile crept across her lips at the thought of returning alive. Offering a silent prayer of gratitude, she rose and tapped her commbadge.

Rosek: =/\= Rosek to Chin’toka. One to beam directly to Sickbay. =/\=

A moment or two later, she was enveloped by the familiar shimmering sea of blue as Eladar IV began to fade from view, soon replaced by the familiar sights and smells of Sickbay. It took her a few moments to adjust to her surroundings.

Avae: Response

She turned, smiling at the Antosian woman.

Rosek: Nothing too worrying. Since I imagine the good doctor has her hands full...

Avae: Response
