(( Sickbay Complex, Deck 10, USS Chin’toka, Earth Spacedock ))

Doucet: Welcome to the USS Chin’toka’s Sickbay, Doctor! I am Doctor Sylvie Doucet, the ship’s assistant chief medical officer. Doctor Edrei is the chief, but she is busy at the moment so I will be giving you a tour of this place. It’s slow since we’re on shore leave, so I’ll also offer to give you a tour of the ship if you’d like. Did you pick a specialty before graduation?

Dasal: Pleasure Doctor Doucet. It’s amazing to finally be here. Ah-ya, kind of. Genetics isn't that ironic.

Doucet: Oh, excellent. Out of curiosity, are you looking into doing some research while you’re in Starfleet then?

Dasal: I mean, ya-kind of. I have a lot of stuff, I wana learn. Like how I won the genetic lottery ::motions to his off colored hair, and eye:: but also just kind of how the world works thought people. Ya-know? I mean plus just wanting to fix booboos and junk like that. Sorry, ramblings a bit. I guess ya know. Find my place, learn lots, do good. ::Giving a thumbs up::

Sylvie tilted her head slightly, a bemused expression on her face as she watched him rub his neck and tug on his uniform sleeves, both classic signs of nervousness. She was sure it was just first day jitters. He certainly seemed talkative enough for that.

Dasal: So-eh, Doc, um-I hope I’m not keeping you from your shore-leave. I love to look around but I don’t wana keep you from time off.

Doucet: ::shaking her head:: Not at all. There’s a few crew still on the ship so we keep one or two doctors on the job until they leave and part of my job is lessening Doctor Edrei’s administrative burden. There’s still a few things I need to do before I take my leave.

Dasal: I’ll be honest. I would love, love to see the ship. I mean ya the academy has stuff but this is a real ship. Heck Earth is still new to me so everything is shiny and cool!

She watched him walk around and poke at screens and equipment as he spoke, seemingly very happy at his new circumstances. It was like watching a child in a toy store, complete with what she was positive were muted sound effects as he pressed buttons. It had only been, what, two years for her but Sylvie wasn’t sure if she had been this obviously giddy and excited when she made her way to her first assignment, the USS Astraeus.

Doucet: I’ll be happy to give you the grand tour. There’s nothing quite like being on a ship, I think, especially one like this.

Dasal: Is this the only med? Sorry, I got the info of the ship but it was a lot, like a lot-a-lot and I kind of tried to focus on just stuff but yaaa.

Doucet: Yes, this is the only Sickbay we’ve got on the Chin’toka. The Akira-class is a heavy cruiser focused on torpedoes and fighters, so most of the space on the ship is geared towards ship to ship battle or supporting small craft. The main shuttlebay is huge. It runs the length of the main hull.

Dasal: Response

Sylvie nodded and gestured for him to follow her around as she pointed at each feature.

Doucet: Mmhm! We have four wards with three biobeds each, meaning twelve overall. In a pinch, we can set up more beds but the biobeds are all that will be able to do diagnostics without our tricorders and eyeballs. The chief’s office is over there. There’s four operating rooms, two on each side. The containment area is at the end of that hallway and that door leads to the medical lab. Around the corner is where you’ll find the primary replicator and medical stores.

Dasal: Response

Doucet: Believe it or not, this is actually smaller than the Sickbay where I first served. The USS Astraeus is a Galaxy-class and on that one, they’ve got basically a whole hospital! Which makes sense, I guess, since that’s meant to be a long-range explorer where this one isn’t. Did you want to take a quick look at the laboratory or shall I show you where you can get some of the best coffee here? Or tea if you’re not a coffee drinker.

Dasal: Response
