It had been quite a start to the day. First, her meeting with her department chief had taken a very unexpected turn, and now she was standing outside the First Officer’s door, taking deep breaths as she tried to calm down. The previous meeting was still fresh in her mind, feeding her anger. When she finally felt composed enough, she pressed the PADD by the door to chime and entered at the confirmation. She stepped inside quickly and came to attention before the First Officer, likely looking far more tense than she intended as she tried to maintain an air of professionalism.
Seleya: Commander, do you have a moment to talk.
T’Ama: Response
Seleya: I need to file a formal complaint against Lieutenant Is’kah.
T’Ama: Response
Seleya: We just had a meeting where zha was asking about my people
s sensitivity to sound. Is’kah then wanted to suggest I should be removed from certain duties because zha is assuming I was uncomfortable and needed the help, when I never ask zha for help.
T’Ama: Response
Seleya: I’ve never felt more insulted and made to feel like a liability to the crew. Zha even thought that they could request me to take daily medication, or wear a sound dampening device. Zha even mentioned they were thinking of ways to use that sound sensitivity against me. Zha even claimed my case is different from any other race that may be sensitive to sound because I went down on the last mission, even though that reason I stayed down had nothing to do with my Ny’Krl, and also, none of Zhen’s business.
Seleya had realized that her usual professional tone had dropped as she started going on, recalling the very upsetting conversation from earlier.
T’Ama: Response
Seleya: It felt like I was being singled out, and that Zha were using my people’s own biology as a reason to discriminate against me. How is this a thing in the Federation or even Starfleet? None of zha’s concerns were even based on my actual medical situation. Nor has our medical department suggested that my Ny’krl would be a liability to this ship. So I don’t know why zha thinks they have any authority in this.
