(( Sickbay, Deck 10, USS Chin'toka ))
Sh’vhaatror: As for the Neuro-psionic therapy I suggest. There is a material the Rodulan’s use called Bostile, it’s reactive to telepathy and they make art from it. However I would like to give you a small orb of it to practice trying to get it to shift into different shapes. I would also like to arrange times for us to meet, as a telepath we can safely practice together.
She knew about the Bostile - it was what Mac had used at the time, when his telepathy had decided to say hello. She knew better than most people, with Alix and Sevantha, what uncontrolled telepathy looked like, and she winced. At least, hers didn't cause pain and brain damage, but that didn't mean she couldn't have an impact on people's thoughts or emotions either, and that was a real problem. If she managed to reach that point, anyway, because at the moment she wouldn't have an impact on much.
Edrei: I'd like that. But I'll have to practice on non-telepaths at some point.
Sh’vhaatror: Other options may be if you have someone you share mutual trust with, if you do feel your empathic or telepathic skills with you can ask them to assist you with practice. There has also been success with sensory deprivation chambers. Since when some senses are cut off, others are heightened, in this case your telepathic senses ideally. There also may be a psychosomatic component to this, which Doctor S’Rorr could assist with.
She nodded. She couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed with everything those therapies entailed, even just talking time-wise.
At least, she was pretty sure Royo would be okay with Lee experimenting her telepathy on her.
Edrei: Not really what I wished to hear, but it's not like there's any other choice.
Sh'vhaatror: Response
Edrei: No, no, it's okay. ::sighing:: It just sounds like a lot.
Sh'vhaatror: Response
Edrei: I know you're right. It'll be fine, I don't doubt it.
She did, a little, but she had to feel confident, right?
Sh'vhaatror: Glad to hear it. Now I feel comfortable discharging you so you can complete your recovery in your quarters. But before you run out of here, I am going to give you that bostile orb, and a list of exercises you can do daily, including exercises you can do with a willing participant if you find one. I want you to come in twice a week for neuro stimulation tests so your neuro pathways remain active. If you are not happy with the progress after a few sessions we can discuss dopamine injections.
She almost did a happy dance when she heard the "discharge" word, but tried not to look too eager. She was okay with everything Ezalia asked of her as long as it got out of there.
Edrei: Oh yeah, I'm fine with that. Hopefully we won't need the dopamine injections.
She started to get up before Ezalia spoke again.
Sh’vhaatror: I would also like to have once a week appointments with you for more intensive exercises with another telepath. And I would like you to schedule an appointment with Doctor S’Rorr at least once or once every other week.
She sat back down as quickly.
Edrei: That's... A lot. Hopefully not for long - I don't see how I can reconcile work and... that, for weeks.
Sh’vhaatror: Well as your abilities start returning we can scale back some of these therapies, and focus more on daily telepathic and empathic exercises.
She refrained a sigh and nodded.
Edrei: Yeah, sounds good. We have a deal.
Sh’vhaatror: Excellent, did you have any questions, concerns, details you wanted to go more in depth about?
Lee slightly shook her head.
Edrei: No, I'm okay for now. Can I get out of here now? ::beat:: Please?
Sh'vhaatror: Response
Edrei: Yes I promise! As long as I can come back to work soon...
She gave her an innocent look. Unfortunately, she couldn't clear herself for duty. Even if she did, she was pretty sure Sh'vhaatror would come after her, and probably S'Rorr, too.
Sh'vhaatror: Response
Her face broke into a big smile.
Edrei: Perfect, thanks.
She rose, but paused before walking away.
Edrei: Oh, and Ezalia? Thank you so much for your help and everything you've done.
Sh'vhaatror: Response
She nodded and walked towards the exit, happy to finally be able to return to her own quarters.
[End scene for Edrei]
