Lee joined the celebrations of Sherlock's promotion, before people started dispersing, congratulating each other. Lyara was already quite busy, but that didn't really matter - they'd be able to celebrate together later. Instead, she turned to Sherlock and gave her a big smile.
Edrei: Congratulations, Commander! That's very well deserved.
Sherlock: Thank you, Doctor. I really appreciate it.
Edrei: So, how has the Acting Captain life been treating you? That wasn't an ideal mission, to say the least.
Sherlock: It was ::beat:: something.
Edrei: Understatement of the century. You've been thrown into the deep end instantly.
And she was still here. Not that she thought Sherlock, knowing her, would have said "oh hell no" and left the next day, but she guessed some people could have.
Sherlock: It was a good experience. It kind of confirmed to me that I'm where I'm supposed to be, y'know?
It was heartwarming to hear.
Edrei: Yeah, I think that speaks for itself.
Sherlock: What about you? You're a doctor, but Starfleet ::beat:: where do you want to go with it?
Lee paused. That was a good question - what did she expect from Starfleet eventually? She let out a small awkward laugh.
Edrei: Honestly, I didn't even anticipate I'd get this far. I didn't really think about it when I signed up for Starfleet, you know. ::shrugging:: Just knew I wanted to be a doctor, and my brother made me want to see the stars. I didn't have a well defined plan like some people.
She had no regrets - Starfleet had given her more than she could've ever expected. She has simply gone with the flow, and never really stopped and thought about why she did it.
Sherlock: Response
She gave wide eyes to Sherlock. Going into Command? She didn't know if the idea made her want to cry or laugh. Or both.
Edrei: Noooooo I don't think that's for me. No offense but keep your job! I love being a doctor, and becoming CMO's already going to be full of challenges on its own, I expect.
Sherlock: Response
Edrei: If you've got some leadership advice, I'm all ears.
