OOC:  Ceremony Playlist

((Ceremony Room, Harbour View Inn))

He felt the emotion bubble up within him, the tears threatening to break free. He took a steadying breath as he calmed himself. Nothing he could say or do would change how he felt in this moment. Their attraction for one another was really all on him, and while he was dating Alex, there was only this thought between them. There was an old movie cliche he’d used in those last three and a half words from the old flick Hotel Transylvania that made the most sense to him as the most appropriate form of “winging” it. He just couldn’t imagine himself as a lesser man anymore.

Skyfire: None of my previous partners, for however long they lasted, were as patient with me as you have been. Your burning inspiration, sense of humor, and passionate drive inspire me every day to not just face the trials of our chosen Starfleet lives, but how to be vulnerable with you. The fact you and I share not just a career, but a faith, have taught me what it means to have a purpose. I can no longer imagine a life without you in it and am equally as excited to experience the many adventures of parenting, our faith, and whatever the galaxy decides to throw at us, with all my heart.

A smile on his face, Mei’konda resumed speaking from the book, after flipping to the next page.

Mei’konda: Chythar, under the eyes of God, do you take Lael to be your lawfully wedded Wife? Do you vow to offer unconditional love...to protect, honor, and serve her as long as you both shall live?

Chythar : I do.

Mei’konda: Lael, under the eyes of God, do you take Chythar to be your lawfully wedded Husband? Do you vow to offer unconditional love...to encourage and support him...to honor and serve him as long as you both shall live?

Lael: I do.

Mei’konda: Let us proceed. :: Offers Lael Chythar’s ring :: Lael, as you place this ring on Chythar’s finger, repeat after me. “I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.”

Lael: I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.

As the ring was placed on his finger, Chythar managed a smile at the Caitian, then locked his gaze with Lael’s as she proceeded to speak the words to accompany the gesture.

Mei’konda: :: Offers Chythar Lael’s ring :: Chythar, as you place this ring on Lael’s finger, repeat after me. “I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.”

As Chythar took the ring from Liam to place on Lael’s finger, he maintained the goofy grin as he spoke.

Chythar: I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.

Mei’konda: By the power vested in me by the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet, I happily pronounce Chythar and Lael to be Husband and Wife. You may kiss the bride.

The rest of the universe, even the music itself, did not exist for several seconds. The applause was dim in his ears, the moment broken after eight seconds. For eight long seconds, the room was out of focus and they were the only two occupants of it, as time itself seemed to stop.

Mei flipped to the last page of the small book, intent on getting the pronunciation and words correctly. So far so good, he felt, despite his unfamiliarity with this particular ritual.

Mei’konda: May the blessing of light be on you, light without and light within. May the blessed sunlight shine on you like a great peat fire, so that stranger and friend may come and warm himself at it. And may light shine out of the two eyes of you, like a candle set in the window of a house, bidding the wanderer come in out of the storm. And may the blessing of the rain be on you, may it beat upon your Spirit and wash it fair and clean, and leave there a shining pool where the blue of Heaven shines, and sometimes a star. And may the blessing of the earth be on you, soft under your feet as you pass along the roads, soft under you as you lie out on it, tired at the end of day; and may it rest easy over you when, at last, you lie out under it. May it rest so lightly over you that your soul may be out from under it quickly; up and off and on its way to God. And now may the Lord bless you, and bless you kindly.

With the blessing spoken, Lael’s grip on Chythar’s hand tightened and she grinned.

Mei’konda: For the first time, I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Chythar Skyfire!

Applause rose from the guests and Lael turned to give Chythar a playful kiss before allowing him to lead her down the aisle. She was his wife. She was Chythar’s wife. And he was her husband. Finally.
