Serala tapped a button on her console and opened a shipwide channel.

Serala: =/\= This is the Captain. We have retrieved President Chekov and are about to make a final stand at Earth. The Borg have targeted all major population centers for destruction. I am going to be honest. I am not a diplomat. I am a soldier. The situation does not look good, but there is one thing we have: Hope. Even while we make a final stand, it is believed that Admiral Jean-Luc Picard is working to end this threat. We do not know how well he is doing. But we are proceeding in the hope that he will succeed. President Chekov believes in us and we are going to make a stand for Earth and the Federation. I am grateful for each and every member of this crew and could not be more honored to serve with each of you. If fate has decreed that we die today, let us die with honor, standing for the ideals and values of the Federation. If we live, I will ensure each of you is honored for your actions today. :: she paused to give her words time to sink in :: All stations, standby. =/\=

She left the channel open, but spoke to the President.

Serala: Mister President, do you want to say any words before we begin?

Chekov: =/\= Thank you, Captain. Crew of the USS Chin’toka, this is your President speaking. Do not believe the Borg when they say resistance is futile. That is what they want you to believe, so that you will lay down and allow them to destroy Earth and the Federation. But we have seen here today already that Starfleet will resist, even when our own people are turned against us - against their will - we resisted. Will continue to resist, and we will prevail. If there is one thing my father taught me, it is that there is always hope even in the darkest hour. I know that each of you still have some tricks up your sleeve so let us all do everything we can to save the Federation! =/\=

Once the President was finished speaking, Serala continued to leave the shipwide channel open.

Serala: Mister President, warp one directly to Earth. Bring us out of warp between the fleet and Earth, then bring us about. Lieutenant Stapledon, initiate your plan once we arrive.

Chekov: Aye, warp one, Captain.

Sherlock: Response

Serala: Very good, Number One. Signal them to standby.

Sherlock: Response

This was it. The Final Stand. Win, Lose, or Draw, this was how they were going to make their last stand in defense of Earth.

Serala: Let’s go out in a blaze of glory. Mister President, execute.

Chekov: Executing.

Serala watched as the President turned the ship. Along with the Aegis, the five fighters, and Lieutenant Neshala in the Delvok, they were all that stood between the fleet and Earth. She could see a few other ships still resisting: the Kitty Hawk, the Artemis, and Astraeus stood foremost in her view. But the fleet arrayed in front of them was extremely menacing. Knowing they were targeting the various cities on Earth made the situation even more ominous.

Stapledon: I'm getting command interfaces on a few nearby ships!  Ordering them to stand down.

Serala couldn’t believe it. Perhaps there was a chance after all. She turned and looked at the science officer, hope rekindling in her veins, the embers sparking back to life.

Chekov: It is working!

Serala: Well, I’ll be damned. Good work, Lieutenant. Keep it up. Get as many of them as we possibly can.

Sherlock: Response

McGillian: They seem to be ignoring us for now, no incoming weapons fire.

Chekov: Do we know of any friendly ships we can distribute this network disruption to?

McGillian: ::exclaiming:: Yes! ::Rapidly speaking:: Routing the network disruption protocols to the Aegis, Astraeus, and Narendra.

Serala: Great idea, Mister President. Mister McGillian, find the Kitty Hawk and include it as well, if you can. Commodore Taybrim also brought an entire squadron of fighters, so use them as well.

Sherlock: response

McGillian: Resistance is not futile.

oO No, it is not. Oo

Their efforts seemed to be working because none of the ships were actually firing on Earth. And then the scanners detected something happening around Jupiter’s Eye. She quickly changed the viewscreen to show what was going on and increased magnification.

What she saw there defied all odds, something only Admiral Picard and his band of renegades could have pulled off. The massive Borg cube was exploding, and from the center of the fireball, the Enterprise-D was streaking away, her shields blue from deflecting the fiery explosion. Suddenly, all of the ships in the fleet began to power down their systems, the chatter changing from the unified voice of the Borg to the kind of Starfleet chatter she would expect from an entire fleet of confused and unnerved Starfleet officers.

Serala: Son of susse'thrai! The old man did it!

Sherlock / Chekov: Responses

Serala: Lieutenant Stapledon, confirm that the Borg signal is no longer transmitting. McGillian, confirm that the fleet has stood down.

McGillian / Stapledon: Responses

The cheer that erupted throughout the ship was deafening, but well deserved. The tension had been high. Only a moment before they were about to give their lives to save Earth, and now the threat was over. Even the baby seemed to celebrate as she felt the kicking in her belly growing more intense.

Serala: It’s over. All stations, secure from Red Alert. Damage control teams begin assessment of ship damages. Medical, I need a full medical report as soon as you can manage it.

The baby kicked again, and she was beginning to think it wasn't just the baby celebrating.

END SCENE/MISSION for Serala

((OOC: I just want to say that this has been a very hectic mission since launch, but each and every one of you has done an extremely good job in the sims. We've stayed on track despite rapid scene changes, accomplished our mission, we've had some excellent ideas for dealing with some unusual situations, and we've come through it all. It's been an extreme pleasure to lead all of you through the conclusion of this blockbuster and I am very much looking forward to more adventures together. For now... Let shore leave commence!!!))
