(( Romulan Base, Miralon City, Miralon III ))

Lyara rendezvoused with her fellow operatives beaming with excitement as she had gotten some possibly useful information out of her reconnaissance. Turned out Romulan men were susceptible to the charm of a simple country Bajoran girl.

Neshala: So, did you have any luck on your foray?

Lyara: Let’s just say I ran into that cute medical tech.

Neshala: Pavan? Did he say anything useful?

Neshala glanced towards the listening device and Alroyo realized she would have to be discreet. How she would tell them she was able to steal one of his PADDs she didn’t know. But she’d have to get crafty.

Lyara: Oh just the basics, wash hands and social distance. Get a mask if possible. But I’ve got a juicy story to tell once we’re in private.

Alroyo had an idea and reached into the purse that she stored the PADD in. She pulled out a lipstick and mirror and started to re-apply it but left the bag just open enough Neshala could peek in. Hopefully they could find a more secluded spot where she could bring it out.

Neshala: We need to act quickly. First, we need to figure out where Leyase has wandered off to. Any thoughts on that?

Lyara: Last I saw she was with that Romulan Subcommander.

She put the lipstick away and closed her purse as she was reminded of the terrifying Subcommander. Hopefully Seleya was safe and not in a holding cell being interrogated.

Before she could worry anymore Seleya entered the room escorted by said Romulan. Alroyo immediately scanned her for any visible signs of torture and noticed marks on her neck. Either the Romulans had adopted a new technique involving the windpipe or Seleya had done some of her own “reconnaissance” with a Romulan.

Seleya: Vierya, glad to see you are still alive. Have they been treating you both well?

Neshala: Oh, definitely, Leyase.

Alroyo eyed Seleya’s neck and smirked.

Lyara: I see the Head of Security has been treating you well.

Seleya: How about you Mira?

Seleya turned to stare at Lyara blankly and she awkwardly returned the stare. What she was trying to convey to the Bajoran was lost on Lyara as she looked away to break the awkward eye contact.

Lyara: I’m alright, talked to the medical tech for a bit.

Neshala: Oh, and the doctor gave me a thorough exam and assures me I have a clean bill of health. We can probably get out of here.

Seleya: Have the doctors said when they will release you Vireya?

The Bajoran watched as Seleya kept squeezing Neshala’s arm. Whatever signal she was trying to give needed less subtlety because it just looked creepy from where Lyara was standing.

Neshala: Not yet. I think they are processing some paddwork first.

Lyara: Once they release her we should rush to our hotel. I’m ready to get to our room and start weddin’ plannin’.

Neshala: Oh, definitely. I have some ideas about the color scheme.

Seleya: There is still plenty to do, and I am sure this quarantine will make it a nightmare to find the perfect venue.

Lyara: I’m sure you could tell us all about the questioning with that security officer Leyase. And I can swap stories about the medical tech.

She put on a fake giggle and gently tapped her purse to motion that she had something important in there.

Seleya: There is not much to discuss, but if you wish.

oO Please Seleya, understand a code for the life of you Oo

Neshala: Oh, I would love to hear all about it, Ley. You know how much of a sucker I am for some good gossip.

Before she could elaborate on her code the med tech of the hour walked in.

Lyara: Hey there Pavan. Here to release us?

She did a small flirtatious wave as she let out another fake giggle.

Pavan did not respond with a flirtatious demeanor and instead delivered news that would leave a pit in Lyara’s stomach.

Pavan: Quite the opposite. We are holding your friend here for further testing.

Seleya: What do you mean you need to keep her here longer?

Neshala: We have to stay? But why?

Alroyo eyed Pavan suspiciously. Surely he hadn’t noticed the PADD she found full of info in a random desk in his office. Unless… It was planted as bait to see if Lyara would take it, like the undercover rookie she was. For all she could tell, they knew they were Starfleet from the moment they stepped into the building. To be fair to the Romulans, three random Federation citizens waltzing into their facility is very suspicious. Especially when one fakes a cough in a fairly unconvincing manner.

Pavan: We have to run more tests.

Seleya: I thought you ran all your tests last night, what more do you have to do?

Pavan: To make sure you haven’t caught the more serious strain of the pathogen that has caused this planet wide quarantine. The one you conveniently broke to land here and “wander” to our restricted facility.

The Bajoran immediately felt her heart skip a beat at his line of reasoning. Maybe they really had known they were infiltrators this whole time, or at least after yesterday. If this wasn’t proof they had been found out she didn’t know what was.

Neshala: But the doctor said I was fine. And Mira really needs to start the planning for her wedding. And we’d like to get out of her before we actually do get sick.

Seleya: Response

The medical technician seemed nervous as he tried to quell the uproar from the not-so-bridesmaids.

Pavan: Well the doctor changed her mind and has requested more tests, you will be held here in the meantime.

Neshala: I don’t consent to any more testing. We thought I was sick, but I am not. Now we’d like to leave, please

Seleya: Response

Alroyo walked right up to the Romulan and pointed an accusatory finger at him. It was time to be a Borhya Bride.

Lyara: We have rights! You can’t just hold three Federation citizens without their consent.

Pavan: Citizens are you? And here I thought you were Ensigns Seleya of Khanda and Lyara Alroyo of the USS Chi-

Before he could finish and way before Lyara could even think, the Bajoran’s fist collided with the Romulan’s face. She watched as he fell to the ground and a look of shock formed on her face, she hadn't expected herself to respond like that. This was her second mission in which she had successfully knocked an enemy out of commission with a punch. An alarming new trend, that would only get more alarming if she found a disruptor on him.

Lyara: One of you take out that camera and the other help me get him into that medical closet.

She pointed to the medical closet as she moved to check the Romulan for any weapons or listening devices on him.

Seleya/Neshala: Response

Lyara found a disruptor on the man and mentally checked this was the second time she stole a disruptor off an enemy combatant. She seemed to have a knack for these kinds of things. If she kept this luck up she’d have to look into switching careers into sec/tac if it was this easy.

That didn’t matter now as she lifted the Romulan and as gently as she could, placed him into the medical cabinet. She checked that he was, thankfully, still alive then closed it.

Lyara: Sorry bout that, but I think we need to get outta here.

Seleya/Neshala: Response

Alroyo quickly scanned the room for any exits they could take, or in a pinch, make.

Lyara: I assume y’all don’t know if there are any other entrances to the room other than the door?

Seleya/Neshala: Response
