T’Ama: Wuhhhhh happening?

T'Ama's voice made Leenaya turn around. She had not seen her waking up, but she really knew how to choose her timing.

Edrei: Welcome back. ::dry smile:: You may have wished to sleep a bit longer.

T’Ama: And die in a fire? No thanks.

oO At least she has her priorities in order. Oo

That’s until she saw T’Ama getting off the biobed, and scowled. She was about to ask her what the hell she was doing but figured she could give her a temporary pass given the situation. Moreover, she still had remaining patients to move away from the doors, so she grabbed the nearest biobed.

Brodie: ::To Doucet:: Are you okay – you don’t sound okay?

The concern in Brodie’s voice made Leenaya turn toward the Assistant CMO who was holding her arm closely, obviously in pain.

Doucet: I’ll be fine. It’s probably just a fracture. At the very least, it’s not breaking through the skin. Let’s focus on the door for right now.

Brodie: Alright…but then we’re going to get a look at that arm, understood? ::Looking around:: We need to find that plasma extinguisher.

Doucet: Well, it’s standard issue to have one there, as far as I know? There was one in the Brig, so we should be all stocked here.

It was a good point, but the ship had launched without being fully stocked. Stress spiked in Leenaya at the thought of an extinguisher not having been put in Sickbay yet.

Brodie: ::Opening lockers:: There should be something…hopefully the ship was fully stocked…plus we’re new to it, no idea where anything is and everything is scattered to the four winds.

She heard a clattering noise, and turned around to see a box of hyposprays falling from a cabinet Brodie had opened. It narrowly missed his head and its contents shattered on the ground.

T’Ama: Computer! Erect a fire suppression force field in the corridor outside Sickbay!

Computer: Error. Lieutenant JG T’Ama does not have authorization to issue commands.

T’Ama: Fyrshii….

The translator didn’t interpret the word, but Lee got its overall meaning, and she was in full agreement. It was a shame it didn’t work, as it’d been a good idea.

Edrei: Dammit, that was a good idea.

Doucet: response

Brodie: What about other gases? Would anything we have here that might work…or even the cryogenic system. Would that work?

T’Ama: Only if the gas isn’t also flammable. ::beat:: Which is to say that oxygen is both cryogenic and extremely flammable. Do not use it. Nitrogen or carbon dioxide would be fine, but I’m not sure they have a medical use.

Leenaya started thinking quickly. Both gases were an option, as they would help cool the fire. Moreover, if they managed to put up a containment field and overload it with gas, it could suffocate the fire due to the absence of oxygen. Carbon dioxide had few medical uses, but that wasn’t the case with nitrogen.

Edrei: We have some nitrogen. We use it in the labs to preserve samples, blood and plasma. Finding an extinguisher would be more convenient, though. Nitrogen will take a bit of time as it is supposed we collect it from the cooling system.

oO And we kind of need the blood currently stored, ideally. Oo

Edrei: I’m not sure we have spare nitrogen canisters, but I’ll go check just in case.

Doucet/Brodie: response

She hastily made her way down Sickbay to reach the storage room. The path was a minefield with scattered hyposprays and other medkits equipment on the ground. She also had to slalom between the biobeds they’d moved in a rush. Looking at the ground to avoid rolling her ankle on a wild hypospray, she bonked into a biobed in front of her stomach first, storming the wind out of her. The man on the biobed looked at her with concern.

Crewman: You okay, doc?

She gave him a thumbs up, holding her stomach and trying to catch her breath. Fortunately she was only a few metres away from her destination, and she lost no time starting to sort through the wreck that had become the storeroom. Unfortunately, all she could see were oxygen canisters, which would go boom if the fire was to reach this area. By then, well, they’d probably not have to worry about it themselves anymore, as the fire would get them first, but the rest of the ship might still be at risk.

Making her way back to her crewmates, she got a bit of hope again as she heard T’Ama.

T’Ama: Move this bed! It’s blocking the cabinet!

Edrei: We don’t have spare nitrogen! Did you find an extinguisher?

Doucet/Brodie: response

She saw T’Ama struggling to move the biobed to access the cabinet door, with little success. Reaching their location, Leenaya passed Doucet a sling for her arm she'd taken in the storage room. It would help stabilize it and reduce the pain until they could take care of it. Someone flipped the biobed's anti-grav switch, and it finally shifted. With freed access to the cabinet, T'Ama quickly ripped its door open. The relief was palpable as they spotted the extinguisher neatly tucked inside.

T’Ama: ::coughing:: Here’s one!

She pulled it out and passed it off to Leenaya. That was a good thing her last Academy simulation for dealing with a fire in Sickbay took place very recently.

Doucet/Brodie: response

She didn’t take the time to answer her and quickly made her way toward the doors. Even though she tried to hold her breath as much as possible, the smoke was overwhelming, making her cough and irritating her eyes as she progressed to the fire’s source. The heat was blistering, and she thought that it was one of the things that differed from the simulations. While the computer had made the experience as close to reality as possible, she had not feel her own uniform literally melting on some parts of her arms and legs. The pain became awful, and when she was close enough she quickly activated the extinguisher. It hissed as the pressurized content spread out quickly, smothering the fire at last and the smoke clearing out as the extraction ducts were no longer overwhelmed.

Edrei: ::coughing:: Fire… is… out.

Doucet/Brodie/T’Ama: Response

Leenaya dropped the extinguisher and coughed heavily, her lungs protesting the smoke inhalation. She sat down, gasping for air, her head and chest aching.

Edrei: ::coughing:: I’m… fine. Just some…burns and… ::gasping for air:: smoke inhalation.

Doucet/Brodie/T’Ama: Response

Edrei: ::couching:: I suggest… w-we cut off… the doors’ power…supply to… avoid an-another fire.

Doucet/Brodie/T’Ama: Response
