((Main Shuttlebay, USS Juneau))
A party was the last place German wanted to go to. He had failed at everything he was supposed to do. Granted, they were able to shake the Syndicate off their tail, but how it happened was a major blow to the Denobulan. He tried to get any kind of indication that the area they had been in was finally under stable condition after creating a massive amount of destruction to the asteroid field, but the probe he sent out wasn't showing anything of value. It more than likely was destroyed in the process.
A bit disheveled looking with his hair in a mess of sorts, German finally talked himself into going to the event. Along the way he managed to materialize a thermos of coffee with probably a shot or two of bloodwine added. It looked like most of the crew was already inside when he walked into the shuttlebay area.
For reasons unknown to him, the first people he saw were Captains Oddas and Rahman, but another important figure he had never met before, but had seen in mission reports and welcome to the Starfleet Academy banners when he was a cadet and training other potential students. To say he was nervous to be around the Vice Admiral was an understatement. He lowered his head trying not to be seen, but overhead a bit of the conversation the three were having.
Oddas: What was that sir?
Reynolds: The passengers of the Ascent Vine. ::She raised her eyebrows and offered a faded smile.::The Gorkon helped with their evacuation and they had an interesting story to tell. Evidently, the Orions had treated them well; left them on an uninhabited planet with a distress beacon and supplies enough to last them until rescue.
German thought that was a relief, but there was still that feeling of being a horrible person for not being able to grab the Vulcans before the Orions had done it instead. He took a rather generous swig of his concoction and headed over to where a couple of officers who were talking amongst themselves.
Raga: The Vulcans. I don't know how many of them survived, but I have faith in Starfleet Intelligence to find them.
Adea: response
Raga: ::He shook his head:: No, they're not. At least not all of them. I lost my transporter lock because someone else had already beamed them off the Vine. And I spotted a second Syndicate ship, briefly before we went to warp.
Adea: response
Galven: ::sighs:: You two will happy to know that I just overhead the admiral say that somehow the Orions were generous enough to let the Vulcans go. Apparently they were able to grab every single person.
Raga/Adea: Response
Galven: It's more fault for letting my frustration get the better of me. I was so concerned with disabling their ship, that I didn't think of the aftermath. ::takes a sip and swallows hard:: At least you two didn't cause the entire collapse of a system.
Raga/Adea: Response
Galven: I should've known better. ::grimaces:: I failed big time. What are you guys drinking?
Raga/Adea: Response
