(( Main shuttlebay - USS Juneau )))
IC:
She maintained a small smile, well-practised on the face of a woman who struggled with public speaking. But the struggle was worth it, seeing the swell of pride lighting the eyes of those who'd earned the recognition.
Reynolds: The simple fact is that this project wouldn't exist without the intellect, dedication and courage of Captain Oddas Aria. From its foundation in her discoveries of additional subspace layers, to commanding the test flight of the USS Juneau in the face of sabotage and assault, she has been a driving force, pushing back the boundaries of our technology, knowledge and understanding. We are more than we were, and it's thanks to Captain Oddas. ::She paused for a brief moment.:: It's for this reason I am honoured to present her with the Distinguished Service Ribbon.
Her smile widened, and she slipped a small case out of her pocket, opening the lid and presenting it to the Bajoran. Kelrod joined the others in clapping and congratulating the CO.
Oddas: Thank you, Sir.
Reynolds: Congratulations, Captain. ::Her eyebrows quirked up, warmth on her freckled features.:: And very well done.
Oddas: This is very unexpected. I truly have no words.
Reynolds: Response
Oddas: The crew deserved it, the mission turned out to be much more than the simple cruise we all thought it would be.
Reynolds: Response
As the ceremony seemed to have ended, everyone was able to mingle around. Kelrod congratulated his crewmates from this project. Each one played an important tole on the success of this test and he's glad to have survived, given the circumstances. He felt bad about the civilians they didn't managed to rescue, but he'd learned through the years that you don't always get what you want, nor even what you need, so he's learned to isolate his emotions and deal with them in his own terms.
As he moved around he saw the face of German Galven who was speaking with Rahman and approached to them.
Galven: How’s the Veritas these days? I remember since it’s so full of tetryon radiation that it takes forever for any kind of messages and news to get out. ::takes a heavy sip::
Rahman: Response
Kelrod: Captain, Commander Galven. Congratulations! It's been a pleasure to work with you again.
Galven: Response
Kelrod: We're to get back to the Veritas but not today, I'm sure that we can get together to update ourselves on how are things before going back to our ships. We can invite Teller too and make a small 'Tas breakfast and enjoy anecdotes and whatever we feel to share
Kelrod felt more at ease with the people he'd served and right now, there was no better company for him than those with whom he'd shared laughs, tears, sweat and blood.
END
( OOC: Thank you all for making this project a success and to allow me the experience to sim with such talented writers from whom I've learned things, even by making some mistakes of my own. I hope that we can meet again in simming someday. Until then, fair winds to you all! )
