Reynolds: There's one last award to present.
It wouldn't be the first Award Ceremony Aria had presided over where she had forgotten to present something to someone, but it would mark the first time she had been unable to recover before the end of her speech. It would also be the first time she had been called out on it by a superior officer.

She mentally ran through the list in her mind, frantically looking for the missing entry that would explain the discrepancy. The Admiral, on the other hand, continued speaking as if she wasn't aware of the sheer terror the Captain was experiencing.
Reynolds: The simple fact is that this project wouldn't exist without the intellect, dedication and courage of Captain Oddas Aria. From its foundation in her discoveries of additional subspace layers, to commanding the test flight of the USS Juneau in the face of sabotage and assault, she has been a driving force, pushing back the boundaries of our technology, knowledge and understanding. We are more than we were, and it's thanks to Captain Oddas. ::pause.:: It's for this reason I am honoured to present her with the Distinguished Service Ribbon.
Aria had to force her mouth to close. The idea of standing in front of a crew, her crew, and receiving a medal was not hat she had planned and was only slightly less awkward than standing in front of them passing them out. On top of that, a Distinguished Service Ribbon - as an Engineer it seemed incongruent to her entire personality.

She was still in a little state of shock as she felt the Admiral touch her bicep and place the box in her hand.

Oddas: This is very unexpected. I truly have no words.

Aria smiled, it did seem like whenever she took out a ship for an initial cruise something happened. The Thor, the Bronwyn, the Thor again, the Eagle.
