((Main shuttlebay, USS Juneau))
Once he was finally able to get back on course, the mustached figure wasn’t in the same place as before. He turned his head left and right as he walked slower trying to lurk about, narrowing his eyes trying to get a better glimpse in the large crowd when a barrier prevented him from going any further. He looked around, but then lowered his head to reveal a Krisosian.
Rahman: Response
Galven: Oh hey, Rosh.. Dr… Captain Rahman. ::sounds like ramen:: Congratulations on your special award.
Still trying to look for the mystery person, he finally just kind of gave up with a defeated sigh and took a drink, focusing his attention back to his former captain.
Rahman: Response
Galven ::shakes his head:: No, there was someone I thought I knew. They kind of just disappeared though. ::chuckles:: Don’t worry though. I doubt it’s another “not Xerix” I have to save you from.
Rahman: Response
Galven: How’s the Veritas these days? I remember since it’s so full of tetryon radiation that it takes forever for any kind of messages and news to get out. ::takes a heavy sip::
Rahman: Response
A lot of people were talking in the room which was basically a loud murmur of incoherent words which made German step closer to Rosh. He heard what she had said, but wanted to be absolutely sure he had his undivided attention. The Denobulan was prone to have a wayward attention span as he noticed the Veritas’ chief of security approach them.
Kelrod: Captain, Commander Galven. Congratulations! It's been a pleasure to work with you again.
Galven: ::nods and raises his glass:: It’s always an honor and a privilege. I actually saw a spot open up about midway through the project and quickly signed up to get the chance to work with you and some of the Veritas crew again.
Kelrod: We're to get back to the Veritas, but not today, I'm sure that we can get together to update ourselves on how are things before going back to our ships. We can invite Teller too and make a small 'Tas breakfast and enjoy anecdotes and whatever we feel to share.
Galven: I would really enjoy that. It would definitely get my mind off certain things toward the mission. ::turns to Rahman:: I still think about what you said the last time I was aboard the Veritas. Sometimes I think about what if I had stayed, but fate has a way of allowing me and the people I’ve worked with since then. ::extends his hand for her to shake:: Thank you for those lasting words of encouragement before I left.

Galven: I just want to say that it’s been an honor, ma’am.
::She shook his hand and gestured for him to follow her to the coffee shop’s lone window. Outside, the Montreal could be seen ahead of Veritas while both ships remained in orbit of Havley’s Hope.::
Rahman: It’s going to be a bit different on that ship. You’ll be taking the lead in the science department as opposed to just being one of several.
::She turned to look back at him.::
Rahman: But you’re ready for it.
::He seemed appreciative of the words as a moment lingered between them. He then surprised her with an unexpected gesture.::
Galven: I actually have something for you. A gift.
::He reached in his tunic and pulled out a miniature swinging desk toy and handed it to her.::
Galven: ::smiles:: It’s for your ready room. Maybe it’ll hypnotize any unruly officers. ::winks::
Rahman: Thank you, lieutenant. I think it will remind me that I only get back from the crew what I put in myself.
::Another moment lingered between them.::
Rahman: Good advice now for you as you begin the next chapter of your Starfleet career.
Galven: ::nods:: As-salamu alaykum, Captain.
::She smiled at his unexpected observance of her cultural heritage that he’d learned from their meeting earlier in the chapel.::
Rahman: Wa alaykum al-salaam, Lieutenant. And pleasant journeys.
((End Flashback))
German donned his wide signature Denobulan grin as their hand shake departed from one another. Quite a bit has happened since that memory nearly 14 months ago. Even though things didn’t work out in his favor regarding the end of the mission on the massive prototype, he was grateful for the opportunities given to him by Captains Oddas and Rahman.
Galven: ::nods:: As-salamu alaykum, Captain. May our paths cross again.
Rahman: Response
After a couple more drinks and chatting with others, German had received a message from Fleet Captain Sal Taybrim to head back to the starbase. There was already a shuttle waiting for him at the other end of the room. Even though things didn’t work out in his favor towards the end of the mission, he was always going to cherish the opportunity given to him when he saw that a spot was open.
When he approached the vehicle, he grasped the side of the opened hatch and turned around to raise his nearly empty glass as a silent toast. German took a larger sip which emptied the contents. Luckily, he hadn’t grabbed a few things before he left the starbase in a hurry so all he had was himself to bring back since he had transmitted his reports to his personal PADD back at his quarters.
He watched the ship become smaller and smaller as the shuttle pilot flew through the open space. It was then he finally realized that the mysterious mustached person was the one and only Jo Marshall which made him chuckle and shake his head when he drifted off to sleep.
