(( Main Shuttlebay, USS Juneau, Mynok Spring Concerns ))
Despite Genkos’ attempts to hide in the corner and look unapproachable, Toryn Raga had decided to make his way over. At least, however, he had the sense to look as downbeat as Genkos felt.
Raga: Doc. You look how I feel. What happened can't be undone, but I promise you, if there's a way we'll get them back.
Genkos struggled to follow the man’s logic. He struggled to keep the emotion out of his voice.
Adea: Get who back?
Clearly he had failed to keep said emotion out of his voice, and Raga raised an eyebrow.
Raga: The Vulcans. I don't know how many of them survived, but I have faith in Starfleet Intelligence to find them.
Adea: I don’t follow; they’re all dead… Vapourised. Atoms.
Raga: ::He shook his head:: No, they're not. At least not all of them. I lost my transporter lock because someone else had already beamed them off the Vine. And I spotted a second Syndicate ship, briefly before we went to warp.
Genkos’ brows rose in a slight appreciation of what Raga had said, when the Denobulan science officer, German Galven interrupted.
Galven: ::sighing:: You two will happy to know that I just overhead the admiral say that somehow the Orions were generous enough to let the Vulcans go. Apparently they were able to grab every single person.
A bizarre choking sensation filled Genkos - but unlike on the transporter pads, this was a good thing. He was unable to catch his breath due to the sheer wonder and excitement filling his chest. Six thousand people had not died, but had been saved by the Orions. Genkos didn’t care a fig for who saved them, or why, that was a matter for Starfleet Intelligence and ranks far higher than his own. He barely followed Raga and Galven’s conversation, interjecting only at the very end.
Raga: Response
Galven: It's more fault for letting my frustration get the better of me. I was so concerned with disabling their ship, that I didn't think of the aftermath. ::taking a sip and swallowing hard:: At least you two didn't cause the entire collapse of a system.
Raga: Response
Galven: I should've known better. ::grimacing:: I failed big time. What are you guys drinking?
Raga: Response
Adea: I’m not, I didn’t feel like it, but maybe now perhaps I will.
The awards and ribbons were neatly displayed, each member of the crew gaining several shiny new ribbons for their work or by virtue of being on board. Genkos fazed in and out of their Bajoran CO’s presentation, but came in when he heard his name.
Oddas: Likewise, the barebones nature of our mission meant more improvisation than usual, and this was readily apparent as Commander Adea worked saved Ensign Dhawan with the minimal of equipment available to him. For his efforts, he is awarded the Silver Lifesaving Ribbon.
Eyes widening, Genkos gripped his cane and marched over to the presenting officers. He shook their hands once firmly and thanked them for the honour, before retreating back to his corner. Once the awards were completed, Genkos turned to his companions, a glass of sapphire wine in hand.
Adea: To the Juneau, gentlemen.
Raga/Galven: Response
