((Main Engineering, Deck 11, USS Octavia E. Butler))

Having spoken briefly to Kessler in passing as he made his way to Engineering, Julien had then managed to address Lieutenant Herrick by the wrong name. Mentally, Julien slapped himself for his frustration-induced brain fog. Thankfully, the engineer didn't pursue the slip up and the conversation continued.

Computer: Transporter systems pass through deck 15 to reach the ventral transporter emitter. When there is a desire to transport something between the inside of the ship and the…

Herrick: Thank you computer, that’s sufficient. (looking to Paradi) So… maybe your incident and mine are connected.

Paradi: Its a strong possibility, sir. What was the incident at your end?

Herrick: Well… I was investigating a power anomaly apparently.

Julien raised an eyebrow. It seemed that he wasn't the only one distracted by current events avoard the OEB.

Paradi: Apparently, sir?

Herrick: Well, to be honest, I don’t exactly recall much aside from me writing it in my duty log. There was an explosion, and I was automatically transported to Sickbay. The conduit was repaired while I was recovering, and the anomaly hadn’t cropped up again. (beat) When did the transporter malfunction occur?

Julien nodded silently to himself. The automatic medical transport was something that he had worked on prior to his transfer to the OEB. He'd been working on a project to bring the automatic medical transport to the vast array of rooms and corridors of SB118, but they had only been in the very early stages of program testing and basic simulations.

Paradi: A few seconds after I initiated transport of Lieutenant Br'desh and Crewman Watanabi.

A few seconds too long for him to terminate the beam up, without losing their patterns into the sub-buffers with a less than zero chance of recovery. He'd simply had to push through, applying a gentle power increase to the pattern matrix which ultimately led to the embarrasing arrival of upside down colleagues.

Herrick: The same time… I don’t know about you, but I don’t believe in coincidences. Why don’t we take a second look at that junction. I promised the doctor I wouldn’t go wandering about investigating without a chaperone.

Motioning towards the nearest tube access point, Julien gave a nod of assent.
Nobody was riding him over the incident apart from himself. He was his own worst – sometimes overly brutal – critic and he was desperate to “clear his name” so to speak.

Paradi: After you, sir. I imagine you're more familiar with the engineering tubes than I am.

Herrick: response

As the two men entered and began their crawl to the junction, a thought occurred to him and paused. One hand raised towards his badge glanced at Herrick briefly.

Paradi: =/\= Petty Officer Paradi to Ops. =/\=

Herrick/Nilsen: response

Paradi: =/\= I'm with Lieutenant Herrick in tube, erm... ::He looked around, but unable to spy what he wanted Julien stumbled a little.:: please monitor systems in our current location, and track our movements. We're heading to investigate a possible system malfunction at junction....

He stopped again, looking to Herrick to confirm the exact spot they were heading for.

Herrick/Nilsen: response

He hung his head a moment. Who didn't know about it!?
Sighing quietly he nodded, even though the Ops officer couldn't see it.

Paradi: Yes, that was me. But they're both fine. Please confirm you have our location on screen?

Herrick/Nilsen: response
