Whether Kessler was allowed to transfer to sickbay or not depended on the personnel side. There was also the issue of whether Kessler agreed to it. It didn’t really matter all that much to Toz but there was the fact that she just liked the guy.
To Toz’s pleasure, it sounded like Miash was a bit excited about training a new nurse. It would help her enhance her nursing capabilities and hone her skills for her future role as a doctor. And Toz would be able to observe her skills first hand.
Miash: =/\= Doctor, before you leave, Ensign Thompson came in complaining of headaches again. I provided a general analgesic and, since she was ending her shift, a mild sedative. I hope that's okay? =/\=
As a head nurse, Miash was suddenly overstepping her bounds. Still, a head nurse was also a doctor’s assistant and in this case was studying to take on the role of doctor. Dr. Toz believed in giving everyone leeway in their duties. As long as they knew where to draw the line.
Toz: =/\= You have the meds right but I think you’d better set the ensign an appointment. You said headaches again. That again worries me. There are several reasons for frequent headaches. Analgesics may exacerbate it. So be sure to make the appointment within a day. Toz out. =/\=
The doctor couldn’t get her mind to let go of the image of a young man who had headaches that turned out to be a brain tumor. Long ago, yes, but it would have been cleared up if only the doctor in charge (a newly minted doctor) had given him more tests. Instead, the man had died incapable of normal mental thought. One morning, the brain stem forgot to have the man breathe. That should not have happened at twenty years old. All because of a headache.
Toz shook her head of those images. She would do what she could here and now. Besides, she should contact Kessler and find out if he’d be amendable to joining her in sickbay.
