((Marine Intelligence Office, Gator Deck, OEB))

Avander had been spoiled by his intelligence suite; there simply wasn’t enough space to pace and think in the Marine SCIF. It did mean that Avander didn’t have to lean in far to read the names on the various ledgers that his Andorian counterpart had pulled together and displayed on the screens. Some of the names were familiar, others were new to Avander.

Ithri suggested that many of these were newly created—perhaps shell organizations to mask illicit transactions.

Promontory: Well, let’s look into it. =/\= Promontory to Locksley, Can you pull everything we have on (beat as he read one of the repeated names on the ledger) the K'ktor? =/\=

The affirmation from the intel staff came immediately and succinctly.

Promontory: They do good work, we should have whatever else SFI knows about them shortly. (beat) Then the real work will begin.

Sh’shelor: We must be careful.

The rest of the caution was cut short as the door behind them opened and a familiar-looking woman walked through confidently. Pips indicated a commander, but, likely from an abundance of caution, Ithri blanked the screen. Surely the SCIF wouldn’t have allowed in anyone without the proper clearance.

Sh’shelor: Greetings.

As the newcomer introduced herself, everything clicked. This was to be his replacement.

She was early.

Walker: Greetings. :: she mirrored:: I’m Commander Walker from Starfleet Intelligence. ::her eyes found the El Aurian hybrid again. She noted he had touch more grey hair than his personnel profile had shown.:: You must be Lieutenant Commander Promontory.

Promontory: That I am, Commander. Welcome.

Sh’shelor: We have not met. I am 2nd Lieutenant Ithri Sh’shelor. We have not met.

Walker: Yes I’m aware, Lieutenant. :: she replied, idly wondering if the Marine was aware she had repeated herself.:: A pleasure to meet you. :: Again, she turned to Promontory. :: I take it that you are aware I am here as the Task Force’s Director of Intelligence?

Promontory: Well… yes…

The transition hadn’t been announced yet and Avander’s eyes flitted to the marine to see how the news was received.

Sh’shelor: There are two of you?

For now, at least. Avander had orders to begin the transition to the new director and his intelligence staff had worked up a whole presentation about their operations. But that was scheduled for the next day.

Walker: Have I… misspoke? :: she asked with a hesitant tone. ::

He moved to reassure his new colleague.

Promontory: Nothing wrong—you’re just a little early. (beat) And I don’t know that your new role was quite public knowledge just yet. (beat) I think our CO wanted to let you get settled in before we put you to work.

Sh’shelor: Response.

Walker: I apologise for any confusion or inconvenience. ::she said, eager to move past the faux pas and to focus on the matter at hand.:: Perhaps it’s best if we move on and you bring me up to speed on what you were discussing.

Promontory: Of course. ::he moved over so the newcomer could get in towards the screen:: Lieutenant, if you please.

Sh’shelor: Response.

Walker: What do you make of it? :: she leaned slightly on the right armrest of the chair and absently stroked her chin with her index finger. :: What is the data telling you?

Promontory: There’s a lot more going on here under the surface. There’s definitely—probably—something more to this, but it will take a bit more work. Honestly, I don’t know if we can get to the bottom of this without some field work.

Avander felt unexpectedly flustered by the presence of the new intelligence officer, tripping over his words as he tried to get combobulated. They had prepared a slick presentation for her, but this was new, live information. Not his best showing.

Sh’shelor/Walker: Response.

Promontory: We’ve looped in the Intel staff on board but haven’t shared it widely with the other intel officers in the flotilla.

Sh’shelor/Walker: Response.

Promontory: There’s one each on the Vulcana Regar, the Phoebe, and the Joseph M'Benga, they’re all here in system, I’m sure you know. (beat) And we’ve been holding weekly holo-meetings with the rest.

When he had first learnt that the ships would be congregating at the newly minted DS14, Avander had planned a little in-person gathering of intel officers. However, since then, his role had shifted and now it seemed that that prerogative would go to Commander Walker, should she decide to exercise it. It might make a nice introduction to the quadrant and the role.

Avander cast a side-eye at the older woman. She certainly seemed formal, perhaps she’d prefer the remote meetings.

Sh’shelor/Walker: Response.
