Did Loq need to take a break from work more often? Their Klingon upbringing had been built around discipline, but there was always time for a drink and a story and a song with close compatriots. And Bolians had a reputation for always working, but the reality was that they didn't like to be idle. A family meal, a party on the beach, a romantic liaison, those were all just as important as work. It was time spent doing nothing that was a sin.

Koryan: Eh.  It’s not good for you. At least come in for a drink every once in a while.

Yinn: I hope I'm never too busy with work that the blood wine has time to curdle.

Taking a sip of his scotch, Maxwell gave a light shake of his head and offered another grin.

Maxwell: Oh no, none ae that. That's what the senior officers are for.

Koryan: Of which, thankfully, I am not one.  Care for another?

Yinn: Yes, but no more of this human stuff.

Loq considered their next move. Most of their favorite Bolian drinks wouldn't agree with their Klingon stomach. Having just brought up blood wine, they were tempted to go back to the easy, comfortable choice, but didn't feel like being too obvious.

Yinn: I have never tried Vulcan ale. I'll have one of those.

Drinking was key to diplomacy, Loq reasoned. If they were going to have a future in the corps, it was important to study all of the diplomatic arts.

Maxwell: Response

Koryan: So let’s just say you decided to take time off from work. No swimming, no bat’leth.  What would you do?

Loq's Klingon brow furrowed as they sipped the ale. Weak, flavorless, like water but slightly bitter. Not dissimilar to human beer. Still, it would be easy enough to keep up with Vulcans' drinking habits if the need ever arose.

Yinn: I'd throw a party. I know our reputation is that we do nothing but work, but Bolian parties are legendary. If you don't end up going home with two or three people, you must have passed out drunk in the first hour and missed the fun.

Maxwell: Response

Koryan: After that last mission, I imagine some time to relax will benefit everyone.

Yinn: Of course, it's usually the hu-mons throwing parties on this ship, and they have some strange ideas.

She thought back to Lhandon's party with ancient children's games. And of course, Loq only ever thought of a party as an opportunity for romance, but hu-mons had such strange ideas about sex and relationships. And, of course, one of their bodies was toxic to most of the crew and the other was practically a weapon. They had been on both the giving and receiving end of each... which reminded them of the thing they had been trying to keep out of their heads. The only person they had slept with on the ship was... themslef, pre-entanglement. They'd be in the counselor's office for years working through that one.

Loq drained the flavorless ale and put the glass down on the bar upside-down.

Yinn: Enough of this foolishness. Blood wine.

Koryan/Maxwell: Response

Yinn: Sometimes a freshwater fish needs to swim back to the river.

Koryan/Maxwell: Response
