NOTE: Using [ and ] to refer to internal communications between crewmembers of the Svisivak.

Also, removed parts that felt like they wouldn’t be heard.

IC:

(( Bridge, UDP Svisivak – Tlugani Nebula ))

The small ship approached.  That was not the ship Luriaa had seen before.  No, it was an auxiliary vessel rather than the main ship where her people had interacted with Starfleet in the past.  Likely their mother ship was somewhere nearby, but without her sensors, Luriaa knew she had no way of knowing what their position was.  She hated not having information.

Just as she hated that she had no idea who hit them.

And she hated that she required their help.

Ragh: =/\= Ragh to Svisivak- This is Medical Officer Ragh speaking. Where are your injured located? =/\=

The voice that came through, though still marked with static, was clear enough that Luriaa knew it was unfamiliar to her.  She noted the speech pattern, but tucked that observation away in the back of her mind.

Luriaa: =/\=They are in my office which is off the bridge. =/\=

She paused in hesitation, but Luriaa knew she really didn’t have much of a choice.  It was let them help or die.

She had no intention of dying again.

Luriaa: =/\=I am sending over the schematics.=/\=

It didn’t take long for them to gain access to the ship.  Though external sensors were out, internal ones worked well enough to give her some data.  The ship docked, and the people slipped into her decks.  Establishing a connection with the infirmary, she knew it was better to warn than assume he would merely let Starfleet assist.

Luriaa: [Siragin.]

Siragin: [Here, captain.]

Luriaa: [It seems a Starfleet Vessel has found our distress call.]

There was silence at the revelation.  Luriaa could understand his hesitation.

Luriaa: [We will accept their help.  Doing so assures us of our survival - and perhaps  they can be useful in other ways.  For now, comply without complaint.]

Siragin: [Understood, Captain.]

The connection dropped and Luriaa turned her eyes to the bridge.  Even if that was not her normal ship, it had its own character, and she was a little sad to see it suffer. Several consoles smoked still from the brief battle they had endured before limping away and seeking refuge in the cloud.  Yet, the freighter clung to life, desperately protecting those who remained within.

A notification drew her attention and her eyes fell to the console.  It barely worked, but it told her that not only had Starfleet come aboard, but someone approached the bridge.  She knew they must converse with each other upon a private line, even if she didn’t hear them.  Power dwindled, and the sensors finally gave out completely, leaving her only with that last bit of information on their position.  No doubt they likely were trying to access the bridge using their own methods.  Power would not remain long, and it was already getting colder without life support, yet, she could at least do one thing - she could open the door.

The panel slid back enough to allow them entry and she saw two men, one who looked human and the other who looked like a Klingon.  Lyria carefully pulled back her one good shoulder and stood as straight as she could.  Petite though she might be, she was the ship’s captain, even if it was temporary, and she would not present a pitiful figure.  She remained there, her shawl fashioned into a sling, blood congealed upon the side of her face where it had trailed down from a gash on her head.  Despite her injuries, her eyes were clear and luminous and defiant.

Ragh: =/\= We've reached the bridge and found the survivors. =/\= ::to Serrano:: Check on the two still standing. ::to Woolheater:: I'll let you handle diplomacy, Sir.

Greaves: =/\= Understood. Treat urgent casualties first, but prioritize getting Luriaa back here ASAP. I want to have a conversation with her while you two continue working on the ship. =/\=

With her one good hand, Luria motioned to the door that led into the little office where she could retreat when need be to take calls or deal with ship matters without interruption.  She had kept the others there, close by, and Siragin was in there tending to them.

Luriaa: Through those doors are the only three crew left alive besides me.  The Konaii is Siragin, the Hyurandan is Hephtas, and the Dosi is Uri.

Though she did not speak directly to Greaves, the channel was open and she had no doubt he could hear every word.

Woolheater: Response

Turning to the door, Luriaa tapped on the control panel.  Although approaching it opened the doors, she put in a command that would keep it open, making movement a  little easier.  Immediately, the Klingon - a surprising choice for a doctor - examined the injured.  Siragin watched him carefully, but remained silent.

Ragh: =/\= Ragh to Talents, one critical to be beamed over. Medics to stabilize and prep for emergent craniotomy. Second coming to, consussed but should be okay. Treat accordingly until I return. =/\=

Greaves: =/\= Keep it up. We’re staying on monitor and keeping the channel clear. Call if you need anything. =/\=

It was no small relief to have assistance, though  Luriaa could not help but feel irritated that it was Starfleet who managed to get there.  She would have preferred allies, but  at least if they weren’t allies, she knew they wouldn’t start an outright battle.  If nothing else, they would help, and she would certainly take advantage of that when offered.

Except it would do no good if they wound up getting ambushed.

Luriaa: I request that the supplies we have be transported to your ship.  If they could salvage them, all the better.  Others waited for those supplies, and already they were delayed.  Luriaa would finish the mission given to her, even if it meant using Starfleet to do it.

Ragh/Woolheater: Response

Luriaa: I wish to speak to Lieutenant Colonel Greaves.

Ragh/Woolheater: Response

She didn’t know if this was pushback because they suspected her of some sort of betrayal or simply normal caution.  She could understand caution.  After all, while the UDP and Starfleet were not at war, they also weren’t exactly friends.

Luriaa: It is important to the survival not only of what’s left of my crew, but of yours.   I’m well aware this freighter is in no condition to move on its own and I doubt the vessel you’re in can easily tow her.

Ragh/Woolheater: Response
