((Ward 31-B, Third Floor, L’Kar General Hospital, Garasi District, Argratha Capital City, Argrathi V))
From what Anton could tell, the process appeared to be going well. He watched with Nilsen from behind the forcefield barrier and was ready to drop it at any moment. When questioned about what was going to happen next, Ragh gave a simple answer that came as a form of relief.
Ragh: You let me out of here.
Anton nodded, dropping the forcefield and allowing Ragh to exit. He replaced it as soon as she had exited.
Ragh: And now, we try to find a way to reverse this.
Nilsen: Like with that reaction earlier.
Richards: That did seem to do something, but how does that apply to us helping the whole population?
He raised his eyebrow, the question was not an attempt to undermine, and was an actual question.
Ragh: I have been thinking about that.. On a wider scale I don't have a solution yet but at the very least we would be able to keep ourselves safe and share it with the Agrathi. Even with a so called 'cure' as long as the drugs exist, this will merely be a small bandage on a much bigger, infected wound.
Nilsen: Still, it’s something. Hopefully, the OEB and the other teams have that sorted with the root course.
Anton continued to follow along in the conversation, mostly providing supportive nods and eyebrows raises whenever he deemed appropriate. Which was often.
Richards: So how long until we’ve got something?
Ragh: I already had a good bit of work going, so with some luck maybe a few hours?
Nilsen: Good, good.
“Good” seemed like a reasonable way to describe it. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t “We’ve cured them all already, lets go to the holodeck.” It was… “Good”.
Anton nodded.
Richards: Right, good.
Nilsen: I’m going to make sure that our newest guest is at least being cared for. If you need anything, just comms me. And I’ve got to do my job and make sure everyone here is cool with us, and alleviate any concerns and whatnot. Anton, shout if you hear anything about our other parties, especially the shuttle. I want us at least looking slightly cohesive before the OEB returns.
Richards: You got it, Sir.
Ragh: Response.
It felt like days, Anton monitored the press, the coms, still nothing from the shuttle. There was only so much monitoring he could have done before pulling his hair out, more so if he had to listen to the media continually get the entire situation incorrect.
One particular news outlet appeared to be blaming the whole thing on a government hoax, citing a series of events that also sounded a little bit made up. Anton liked this outlet the best, at least they managed to add a bit of personality unlike the one that just said “Running! That’s what you’ll be doing!” over and over again, whilst attempting to sell suspiciously cheap cures.
((A few hours later))
Lhandon was not entirely sure what setup Ragh had put in place. Whatever it was, Ragh seemed to know what he was doing. Some kind of process was underway, but beyond that, it just looked like very valuable scientific equipment.
Nilsen: So, I chatted with the staff and let them know what we were doing. Our friend is being monitored, and he’s still sedated, so we should be good. Word of what we are doing has started to get out, and we’ll likely get the press soon. I’ll handle them. I haven’t had any word about the shuttle, except for some rumours on their social media, so you just focus on your work. How’s it looking?
Anton peaked his head up from his various data streams.
Richards: Well it’s going… it appears as though they is working on keeping people calm, while the media appears to be trying to do the opposite for the most part.
Ragh: Response.
Nilsen: That’s good news?
Anton peaked his head up again. Good news beat the actual news any day
Richards: Sounds like it.
Ragh: Response.
Richards: Oh. So…
Nilsen/Ragh: Response
Richards: Well if that’s the case, it makes our job a bit easier I suppose.
Nilsen/Ragh: Response
Anton nodded along once more, before looking towards his screens, there he saw it. The Starfleet logo came across one the less credible news sites.
Richards: I think we’ve been made. Knowing these guys they are going to say we brought the sickness with us.
Anton gestured to the screen.
Nilsen/Ragh: Response
