Ensign Elijah Kovacs: Lhandon's Boss

Eli had begrudgingly accepted Nilsen’s encouragement to work out in the gym. While he preferred more extreme holodeck programs, opting for adventure over equipment, there had been some positive points around camaraderie — that’s how Morro and Lhando’s friendship had taken hold. And, outside of JOPA, he still was a bit of a lone wolf aboard the Octavia E. Butler.

He decided to take his first excursion solo, lest Lhandon get too affectionate while they work out. He was still struggling with public displays of affection; his family wasn’t like that.

As the doors slid open, Lhandon’s theory proved right, as his boss was working out on the bench press. He seemed to be struggling with the weight and then regained his composure. Eli could’ve sworn he heard him say ‘thanks.’

He was torn between going straight to the chest press, but he thought it’d be rude to completely ignore the senior officer.

Kovacs: Um… hi, sir!

Outside of his brief rotation outside of Engineering, when he was debating escaping Herrick after their intense encounter, Lieutenant Arlill and Eli hadn't spent any meaningful time together since.

Arlill: Response

Kovacs: I was thinking upper body today — it’s my first time here but seems straightforward. (beat) Did you need a spotter?

Arlill: Response

Kovacs: He’s… he’s doing (unsure) alright? (beat) Thank you for writing that letter for him at the trial, I know that he values you… and your relationship.

Lhandon hadn’t exactly gone into depth about the difficulties that he’d been having with Arlill, at least with Eli. But it didn’t take Sherlock (Aine or Holmes) to see that they hung out less and that there seemed to be some slight friction. He wasn’t a telepath though, so he could just be misinterpreting everything.
