(( Skylink Car 183, Deep Space 14 ))
As the pair of Regina officers rode along in the Skylink, Zi glanced over at Nadia. She hoped to give Nadia a good overview of the station, but DS14 was a big station. She didn't want to overwhelm the ensign before she'd ever even gone on duty. She doubted that the largest station could accomplish that goal -- Starfleet graduates were notably difficult to discomfit. Even so, though...
Nijal: Is there anywhere you'd like to see?
Zi wasn't sure how much research would've been reasonable for Nadia to
have done prior to her assignment, especially since DS14 wasn't where
she'd be spending most of her time. Zi certainly had a few favorites,
and would willingly show them off if asked -- but this wasn't about her.
N.Forsyth: Hmm, do you know a good place to get something to drink, like a tea or maybe a milkshake?
Nijal: Oh sure, we can do that. There's a couple of places up near the solar sail observation platforms. They're a little off the beaten path, but they have the best views. What do you think?
N.Forsyth: Ooh, that sounds great.
Nijal: Great, then we'll ride for another few minutes.
The general direction of this Skylink, Zi had learned as they'd gone, was "up" -- although that didn't mean much without gravity, in the station's artificial gravity, it meant a little more. It was also, helpfully, directly away from New Bajor, while "down" was toward the planet.
Nijal: Just tell me one thing: Does it matter if the milk is shaking?
Because she had a drinks place in mind, but shaken milk sounded more like some sort of food. Milk in general was a bizarre substance to Zi -- a nutritious secretion, but not from the humans themselves, oddly enough -- but if Nadia liked it, then she was willing to go where the milk might be shaken.
N.Forsyth: Response
Nijal: Oh, I see! Yes, I'm pretty sure the place I'm thinking of has that, or something like it.
Whether or not the beverage on offer was sourced from the Earth mammals Nadia wanted, Zi couldn't say. But it would probably be close.
N.Forsyth: Response
Nijal: (with a laugh) Well, we can do tea, if nothing else. Look, we're about to pass up into the transition zone!
The Skylink had been spiraling upward and out of the Main Arboretum, and once they passed through a dark section of hull, Zi was fairly sure she remembered that they were about to come out into the full view of the solar sails.
