(( Local Authority Building, Thren, Koreli IV ))Nilsen: I think that is a good place to pause. We have a plan of action. Lieutenants, anything else?
Lee: I have nothing else.
Colt: Nope, nothing here.
Pelk let out a slight breath without even bothering to hide his relief.
Orval: Excellent. Excellent.
Nara: Very well, gentlemen.
She rose from his chair.
Nilsen: We'll obviously be in contact. I'll make sure that the FDC is informed, and you should see our people with the shipments very soon.
Lee: I’m glad we could have this talk.
Colt: ::nod:: Thank you for having us.
Pelk stood up, wiping sweaty hands on his remarkably clean trousers before offering a hand to the delegation -- if any were brave enough to take it.
Orval: Always a pleasure to host such honored and esteemed guests as the Federation.
More dignified than her colleague, Nara smoothed her skirts and inclined her head respectfully to the group.
Nara: Thank you for your attention to this matter. It was a pleasure speaking with you all.
Nilsen: Likewise, I'm glad we could at least find a possible solution. You'll be informed of all the arrangements, and I'll make sure you are both involved in them too.
Lee: Thank you delegates.
Colt: Until we meet again.
The Delegate held her arms out to the side in a welcoming gesture.
Nara: Until next time. As I said, you are more than welcome to partake in the festivities. You are our guests.
Pelk, for his part, was already heading out the back door.
(( Main Square, Thren, Koreli IV ))
A few hours later after the Starfleet officers had departed, the celebration was beginning to wind down. The music still played at the edges of the square but the energy had softened.
Nara was seated with her family near the center of the square, a cup she had stopped drinking from resting in both hands. Around her, conversation moved easily. She let it.
Her eyes found Pelk. He was meandering at the far edge of the gathering, much quieter than usual which was its own kind of alarm. The bluster had gone out of him sometime in the last hour and moved like a man with more than physical weight on him. Nara watched him in a way to make it seem she wasn't watching him at all.
Her focus was still on him when the commotion started.
At first it was voices originating from a cluster of Danni at the far end of the square, then a spreading almost conspiratorial mood that permeated through the crowd. Nara set her cup down.
She rose and crossed the square at a measured pace, hands loose at her sides, expression even and unreadable. When the crowd parted enough for her to see, she stopped.
Garmin lay at the edge of the square. Still and motionless. The missing regional coordinator, who had been absent all day without explanation, had been found. It was just not in a way anyone had been hoping for.
Nara: (low) Oh my.
Nara stood at the edge of the gathering, hands folded, face composed. Thoughtful.
