((At the top of the downwards tower - level 0, Kaelith's Caverns, Central Subterranean Excavation, Marohu III))
Kaelith had offered to find out what was happening on the OEB and to get as much real time info as possible, as quickly as possible, the team had taken the offer. Communications earlier had given the team a sinking feeling but they still had some options and didn’t want to put Kaelith at risk.
Tarnas: Sounds like a plan. ::Borrowing a leaf from Anton’s book of caution:: But only if you’re sure you feel strong enough, Kaelith. None of us wants you to put yourself at risk.
Richards: And we mean that.
Lhandon just nodded, he had nothing more to say as Tarnas said the words he was feeling.
Kaelith: Response
With a soft smile from Anton, it seemed that Kaelith had brought out another side of the three of them, and a side Lhandon had never seen from Richards - the kind, soft, caring side. Before, Nilsen had only seen Richards from afar, and the two had never entered each other's orbits. When he was younger, he had thought of Richards as just the mad person with crazy ideas, but slowly, as the two had worked together more, he had gotten to understand Richards, and perhaps they had more in common than they realised.
Richards: Seriously, no selfless risks… or any risks at all. If you feel like your power is waning or draining to quickly, just stop.
Nilsen: Exactly, there is always another way.
Jaren nodded. He could still get a connection to the OEB and that meant he could get some amount of information, and even force a remote beam up. It would likely require Nilsen’s command authority but he’d already worked out how it could be done.
Kaelith: Response
He hoped Kaelith took what they said to heart because he didn’t want to see him harmed further.
Richards: Alright then, let’s give it a go.
Kaelith: Response
Richards: With any luck we will figure out what our next move is.
Nilsen: Yep, Kaelith, enjoy having a look around. We’re very proud of our ship.
Kaelith: Response
Jaren nodded. He hadn’t been on the OEB long, and he was still getting to know people and had barely had a chance to settle in. However, given he’d finally got his long sought-after promotion here, he felt like his effort was finally being seen and recognised and that felt great. It easily gave the advanced ship a special place in his heart. As Kaelith’s presence faded and he went to the OEB he held his tongue, resisting the urge to offer good luck. A phrase that felt cursed. If the ship was their safe space and all was well as it should be then no luck was needed.
Kaelith/Richards: Response
Nilsen: What are you seeing Kaelith? Do you know where you are on the ship?
Kaelith/Richards: Response
It was interesting to hear kaelith describe features of the ship that most people took for granted on a daily basis. How many people paid any attention to the purple carpets. When you first came aboard the colour was striking and it felt very luxurious, adding to the prestige surrounding the ship. He tried to recall what colour the flooring had been on his old ship - beige? Gunmetal grey? He couldn’t remember.
Nilsen: They are our carpets, purple is a very popular colour with our crew. It sounds like you’re in a corridor.
Tarnas: Can you hear or see any people nearby?
Kaelith/Richards: Response
Nilsen: The lighting shouldn’t be dark? Even at Red Alert. What are you seeing?
Tarnas: oO That’s troubling. Oo
Jaren gnawed at the inside of his cheek, and his brow creased. His alertness spiked, and his mind sharpened. There had to be some light for Kaelith to have detected that there were purple carpets, surely. Maybe the lighting was heavily dimmed - as though it was on emergency power, or an alert status. Red or Amber lighting would have distorted the colour of the carpets - but would they still ‘read’ as purple? Probably, if it was Red alert, but yellow and purple cancel each other out, so the carpets would’ve appeared black. He never thought he’d be using colour theory to try and work out what was going on with his ship.
Kaelith/Richards: Response
Tarnas: What about the doors - are they open, closed, or do any appear to be sealed or damaged?
Kaelith/Richards/Nilsen: Response
Jaren had no idea if Kaelith could read Federation standard and had no reason to believe he could any more than they were able to read the symbols in Kaelith’s sanctuary. Describing the letters and numbers on a door plaque was one thing and then understanding that description was something else again. In other words, it was a long shot, but one that could tell them what deck Kaelith was on if it panned out.
Tarnas: Are you able to read or describe the characters on the little plaque by the door?
Kaelith/Richards/Nilsen: Response
Tarnas: If you move further down the corridor, can you tell us what else you see or hear? We need to get a better sense of what's happening up there. Go slowly and carefully though, if there’s even the slightest whiff of danger, just come back.
Kaelith/Richards/Nilsen: Response
