Despite being outnumbered by the Starfleet officers, the Yaderan investigator did not feel in danger. He knew the reputation of Starfleet and if there was anybody to be stuck in a room with, it would be them.

Rouiancet: Now, that is interesting. What was your business there, if you don't mind me asking?

He did not, in fact, mind. Compared to the case she had asked him to look into, the affair on Koreli IV seemed unimportant in comparison. Plus, there was always a small chance that Starfleet might know something that he could help in his investigation. He doubted it, but you never knew.

Toven: Investigating the death of a regional coordinator. The government determined it to be a suicide but the family is convinced it was murder and is being covered up. They hired me to investigate.

Rouiancet: My ship, the Butler, spent a memorable mission with the Danni. (beat; frown) I hope that they're not subject to the same degree of smuggling as the Argrathi?

Thomas: ::mumbled:: That would be unfortunate.

Colt: Indeed. ::nods to Thomas::

Their comments caught Toven's interest. Perhaps his little fishing expedition on the side was not a waste after all. He made a mental note to inquire further about Starfleet's involvement on Koreli IV.

Toven: (shaking his head) They are not, captain. My best guess is their mistrust towards outsiders made establishing smuggling routes too difficult.

Thomas: Well, glad to hear they’re not suffering from drugs like the Argrathi.

Colt: ::speaks up:: Not yet, at least. If the Black Kris continues to dominate in the sector, their influence may reach to several of the planets.

The Yaderan nodded in agreement, although perked a brow as the others offered comment.

Toven: Introduction may be slower but Ketra Omni is a unique product. Exclusivity creates interest.

Rouiancet: Response

Thomas: I see. Sorry for the interruption Captain.

Colt: ::clears throat:: I didn’t meant for an interruption either.

He waved a dismissive hand as if to say it was on bother at all.

Toven: No injury suffered here.

Rouiancet: Response

The Yaderan finally lifted the PADD he had brought and activated it with a press of his thumb. The screen flashed to life and a database of files could be seen on the screen. He slid it across the desk towards the group.

Toven: I looked into the Black Kris as you asked. They have done a decent job staying out of the spotlight, so to speak, but I have found their reach is spreading rapidly. Some are not willing to admit officially yet that they are dealing with a drug epidemic. (gesturing to the PADD) That is a list of planets that have increased their orbital patrols.

Rouiancet/Thomas: Response

Colt: One quick question. Is the Black Kris benefitting from an early foothold in Gamma, and why is this so?

Toven: My estimation is they are taking advantage of the independent systems no longer under the yoke of the Dominion.

The weight placed on the word 'yoke' betrayed a measure of Toven's opinion on Dominion control. The annexation of Yadera Prime was still a sore subject.

Rouiancet/Thomas: Response

Toven shook his head and rubbed his temple.

Toven: There is no coordinated response. Each system is tackling the epidemic in their own manner. Some more successfully than others.

Rouiancet/Thomas/Colt: Response

Toven: I was able to verify one thing. The Sweet Charlotte is a Wadi-class cargo vessel. Heavily modified, no doubt.

Rouiancet/Thomas/Colt: Response

Toven leaned back in his chair, chuckling and shaking his head.

Toven: I avoid the Wadi system. I have no skill in games of chance and strategy.

Rouiancet/Thomas/Colt: Response
