Enak had been working with some assumptions, but the Starfleet types were definitely in the mood for more direct matters.
Enak: It was worth a question.
Riley: I don’t necessarily agree that it was the Dominion, because the timeline doesn’t seem correct. Admittedly, my knowledge of this particular sector is limited, but none of the major Dominion conflicts in recent memory stretched out this far.
Forsyth: There are not really any other races that are old, at least not in GQ.
Enak: Well, we have the I-Kiyo, but yes, otherwise they might not still be around.
Brainstorming was good, but they had to be mindful of what Starfleet wanted to know.
JoNz: ::slight mrrowl and tail lash:: Persnicikity piece of equipment. ::adjusts tricorder since it won't recognize the word she typed::
Riley: I’m not saying it couldn’t have happened, just that it’s probable that the Dominion wasn’t the culprit.
Forsyth: All I know is that they've been around long before the Federation was thought of in President Archer's mind, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are that old.
Enak: That’s fair.
JoNz: ::puts in comment without looking up from data typing:: Personally, I’ve always been a fan of Archer’s prized beagle.
Enak raised an eyebrow. He figured a Caitian wouldn’t be a fan of a dog.
Forsyth: I’m sure some are still around, somewhere.
Arlill: Kaelith, do you have any knowledge a species called the changelings?
Kaelith: If you are referring to metamorphic beings, there are some references, vague, with limited knowledge I can share. The only information I can give freely is that they were marked as ::beat:: use caution when researching.
Enak: Always.
He thankfully hadn’t come across a changeling, yet, but he wasn't looking forward to it.
Riley: Response

Forsyth: Ok, what were the Befores like?
Enak: They were quite technologically advanced, that much I can say.
Riley : Response
He turned back to Kaelith as he spoke about the “Befores”.
Kaelith: The Befores, allow me to share what I am permitted to, were a great species. They were adept at creating just about anything they dreamed up. I was invested by one Before who was fascinated with the absorption of knowledge, only they felt their own senses were far too limited to absorb it quickly enough, so he devised a system, K-A-E-L-I-T-H which could take in information from many sensory inputs.
Arlill: What does your name stand for.
Kaelith: In the Before’s language it’s hard for your tongues to replicate or brains to abosrb, but it roughly translates to “Knowledge is Everlasting, Knowledge isn’t Good nor Bad, Knowledge must Grow.” ::beat:: It loses some of it’s esteem in translation.
Enak: Better than I’ve heard in other places.
Riley / Forsyth: Response
JoNz: Uh ::to all:: Excuse me, but we may have a communications problem with the ship…
Arlill: Report ensign?
JoNz: Response
Arlill: Can we confirm the source of that transmission?
JoNz: Response
Arlill: The O-E-B?! That can’t be good! ::turning to Kaelith:: Do you have enough energy to reach out to the ship?
Oh crap, Enak had been depending on them to keep things on the up and up. If they couldn’t reach their ship.
Kaelith: I’m afraid my systems have stabilized but my external transceiver, as you might perceive it, isn’t full powered.
Arlill: Ok, that’s fine, thank you, ::turning to the others:: we need to get to a beam out location. There’s plenty more to learn here, but our ship might be in trouble.
Enak: Well, in that case, it was nice meeting all of you.

He turned back to everyone there. Apparently they had forgotten that he was supposed to be here.
Enak: I’m still digging here. If y’all are moving on, I’m staying here.
