(( USS Sower, Runabout, A few Light Years from Deep Space 14 ))

Karen had to pass the test, let’s call it that, for her annual runabout piloting certification.
She detested piloting those things, let’s not deny it, and was absolutely hopeless as a pilot, to boot.
Singing and piloting were undoubtedly the things she was worst at.

Certainly! Here’s the corrected and improved text:

They could have tasked her with conducting geological, scientific, or biological analyses; she even possessed a solid foundation in engineering. Additionally, she was a competent doctor. While not the top in her field, she was proficient enough, as demonstrated during her service at Starbase 118.

But piloting? No, it was definitely better for her not to pilot, for her own good and the safety of her colleagues.

She was decidedly late for her certification, which had already expired while she was still at base 118, but she had postponed it with some excuse or another. A mission here, a psychological consultation there, she had managed to dodge that tedious duty for quite some time.

By now, however, it must have been so obvious that it was impossible to delay any further. Fortunately, Toxin had offered to help her with it.

oO And that’s all, Your Honor.Oo

Arlill: It seems like things have been crazy since we initially met the Chey’d, how have you been?

Stendhal: Yes, I agree with you, it was definitely a particularly intense mission. Even though I remained on board the entire time. Leading the negotiations with the refugees, moreover… It was sheer madness!

Arlill: Operations has been ok, seems like we launched the OEB before we even took the plastic off the screens.

Stendhal: Plastic on the screens? (Beat) Who would put plastic on the screens? Then you wouldn’t see anything, right?

Arlill: It’s an ancient technique for protecting electronics, but now it’s just a saying. (beat) You mind adjusting our deflector dish by 4.5%?

oO Don’t worry, my flight experience is close to absolute zero. Oo

oO Henri: Look at you big guy, always the helper. Oo

Arlill: ::quietly:: Stop it, not now, later.

Karen’s eyes widened in surprise, then she looked around as if there were someone else on board, but ultimately there was no one besides the two of them. That is, unless it was some kind of transparent or invisible alien entity.

Certainly! Here’s the improved English translation of the text:

In the meantime, the deflector dish had been adjusted a bit too much, let’s say by about 10% to 20%—a bit too excessive. Karen corrected it back to a more accurate 6%. At Toxin’s words, she stopped.

Stendhal: Are you talking to me? What shall we do with the deflector dish? Shall we check it now or later?

Arlill: Oh nothing, just noting the short range sensors. (beat) What got you into counseling?

oO Henri: Smooth. Oo

Karen hopped a little and almost let out a squeak.

Stendhal: Smooth? With the sensors or with the (bloody) dish?

Arlill:?

Then she gave her unruly lock of hair a quick flick to straighten it out.

Stendhal: Counseling? At the beginning I was more to the medicals can you believe?

Arlill:?

Stendhal: As a Betazoid, counseling came more naturally to me, you know, it’s almost a stereotype.

Arlill:?

Stendhal: Wait up, what’s going on here? I keep picking up weird thoughts, they’re a bit different from you, from your mental vibe, but there’s no one else around, yet they’re still yours!?

Arlill:?
