(( Promenade, Deep Space 14 ))

Their time on Deep Space 14 was not going as smoothly as they would have hoped, and they were certainly not going to get any rest now. First, a woman, likely around the same age as the two marines, barged past them. Soon after, two larger aliens also barged past them. This was enough to spur one of the marines to do something.

Jenson: Teddy? Are we about to do something really stupid! and not wait for station security but rather take matters into our own hands in a sense of justice to make us just for a moment feel like main characters, rather than extras used at the whims of a show's writers to serve whatever purpose they want?

O’Reilly: Can’t sit on the sidelines forever, right?

Teddy seemed to look off somewhere.

Jenson: Who are you looking at? ::Beat:: No don’t answer that, I once thought I saw a bear but it turned out to be just an operations officer. What’s the plan then Teddy?

O’Reilly: No plan yet, I just want to see where they’re going (beat) although my gut says this ain’t gonna be good.

Jenson: I’m with you there. We shouldn’t go jumping in head first.

As they were walking along, trying not to be seen, Link looked up at Teddy and saw yellow, which was to be expected. Nerves going into a situation like this would have made sense, but he also saw a very dull red.

o0 Are you mad? Angry? Nah, you ain't angry. What's nervous and angry... embarrassment? What have you got to be embarrassed about? No one embarrassed about me, I should get him some toast, I've got a new toaster hooked up...oh one day, I could turn it up...get myself a waffle iron....Do I like waffles? Yes, I like waffles but they're not toast. 0o

Jenson: You with me Teddy?

O’Reilly: Sorry, lost my train of thought.

o0 Oh you were thinking about something! 0o

O’Reilly: Where’d they go?!

Link put his gloves back on and blinked for a moment. His sight returned to that which was much less of an assault on the senses, the auras now dulled down to their lowest settings.

Jenson: That way.

He just saw the heads of the two dash towards a set of doors.

O’Reilly: Glad you were paying attention.

Jenson: Follow me.

O’Reilly: response

Link led the way for Teddy to follow. He was sprightly in his moves and weaved through the crowds with ease. The wide promenade had a number of access points, but one of them was a set of nondescript double doors with "Staff Only" and a warning to always keep this door closed. It had just finished closing softly when Link and Teddy arrived.

(( Staff Only Area, Deep Space 14 ))

He pushed the door open slowly, careful not to make any noise. He gestured for Teddy to follow him as they entered a dimly lit corridor. Keeping his movements quiet and feet soft.

Jenson: ::whispering:: Stay close and keep your eyes peeled. We don't know what we're walking into here.

O'Reilly: Response

As they crept forward, the sound of muffled voices could be heard from further down the corridor. Link held up a hand, signalling Teddy to stop.

Jenson: ::in a low voice:: I hear something. Let's get closer, but be ready to bail if things go south.

O'Reilly: Response

The pair inched forward, their backs against the wall. As they approached a bend in the corridor, the voices became clearer. Link risked a quick peek around the corner.

Jenson: ::turning back to Teddy, his voice barely audible:: Two of them, looks like they're exchanging something. Can't make out what it is from here.

O'Reilly: Response

Jenson: Let's...

Before Link could finish his sentence, a loud clang echoed through the corridor.

Unknown Voice: Hey! Who's there?

Jenson: ::eyes wide:: Uh oh.

O'Reilly: Response

The sound of footsteps approaching quickly filled the air...
