(( Bridge, Deck 1, USS Octavia E. Butler. ))
Well, things just escalated, as not only was the Butler crew busy dealing with Captain Ives, but one of her ships had decided to turn around and beeline towards the group. Lieutenant Forsyth and Commander Katsim had both confirmed the heading of the other vessel, but it seemed that Ives was also caught off guard by the news.
Forsyth: Captain Rouiancet, we may have a problem….
Rouiancet: What is it?
Alex double-checked her reading to make sure she was getting all the information right, despite the interference. She could tell the new vessel was heading towards them, with what looked like an attack vector approach that pirates were known to use.
Forsyth: One of the ships has turned around; it's heading back here.
Captain Ives clearly was not expecting one of her ships to turn back, judging by her expression and tone. Alex assumed Ives had no real control over those in her command, which did seem like a classic pirate trait.
Ives: =/\= Damn their--- (comms muffled) =/\=
Rouiancet: Lieutenant, shields are still up, yes? We might need them.
The tactical officer looked over to Katsim, who just gave her a nod. Alex was not sure if Bardassian was trying to give her encouragement or something else entirely, but what she did know was that the crew was counting on her to protect them.
Forsyth: Yes, shields are online.
Rouiancet: What about our echolocation? What's the likeliest vector?
Alex was not sure if the echolocation would be that useful; it was good at detecting a target but not so much at knowing what their flight path was.
Katsim: It’s heading back toward us.
Forsyth: And fast, eta five minutes.
It was too fast for Alex's liking, but something about the vessel and Captain Ives' reaction seemed to suggest more going than is known. She wondered if the ship was ordered to stop the Ives from spilling their plan or all part of a bigger plan.
Rouiancet: =/\= Captain Ives, what's happening over there? =/\=
Katsim: The ship is within weapons range.
Ives: =/\= Response =/\=
If it was not for the interference from the magnetar, then Alex would be able to tell what kind of weapons the unknown vessel has, but at last she could not.
Forsyth: Great, I don’t know if I’ll be able to get a target lock on it…..
Rouiancet: Responses
Carefully watching, Peri noticed that the ship was headed toward them, but not in the way she expected. It didn’t barrel down straight toward them, but shifted away slightly, as if it was going to come alongside.
Katsim: Captain.
Alex tried her best to pay attention to the conversation happening around her on the bridge; however, her mind was focused on determining the intention of the approaching vessel.
Rouiancet: Responses
Ives: =/\= Response =/\=
Katsim: The Black Kris. It started in the Alpha Quadrant as a part of an Orion cartel cell. It’s evidently come into its own and has firmly established itself in the Gamma Quadrant.
The Tactical officer listened while the commander gave her findings to the Captain, and brought up the file herself to see what kind of vessel they were dealing with. If the design was an Orion in origin, then it should be fairly capable of going toe to toe with a Sagan class.
Katsim: There’s mention of them having some sort of interaction with the Consortium…
Forsyth: Why does that name sound familiar…
She had heard or seen that name somewhere before, but could not recall where or what for. Alex would need to check her records, but she had other more pressing matters to deal with.
Ives: =/\= Response =/\=
Rouiancet: Response
Forsyth: Right, I’m vaguely familiar with them.
She was not really, but nothing a quick search would not hurt. Alex assumed by the tone in which Commander Katsim had delivered the revelation, it was big news.
Rouiancet/Katsim: Response
Ives: =/\= Responses =/\=
Forsyth: Ma’am, permission to ready weapons?
Rouiancet/Katsim: Response
Ives: =/\= Responses =/\=
